Would you get more work done without email?

If I didn't get or send email I think I would get a lot more work done. I'd get post in the morning, and I'd send post at the end of the day and I would be able to concentrate in between.

Would it work for you?

Yes....but we'd all be SUPER bored.

Just check emails once in the morning, at lunch then right before you leave.

You don't have to be a slave to email.  Just don't answer it until you are ready.  For example, you could just set two or three times a day that you answer (Morning noon and before you go home)

Don't blame it on email.  It's how YOU organize and schedule your work.

Absolutely,  everyone usually goofs around for the first and second hour  at work and it usually is on the internet so my answer would be yes.
