Picture this: You are boarding a flight piloted by a Veteran who flew helicopters in the first gulf war. He was honorably discharged, and has had a job flying commercial airplanes for years. He is also a convert to Islam, and married a woman from Pakistan who is now a U.S. citizen.

Would you have any problem getting on the flight?

  1. Yup. If he's taken the time to become a pilot I'd be reasonably sure he isn't going to crash it. Surely if that was his intention he's hijack it, rather than going through the trouble of flight school and job interviews.

  2. I want to live, so I honestly do not think I want to board that flight.

  3. Probably.  Of course I would be apprehensive and slightly scared, but I know they are vetted.  It's the passengers I worry about.

  4. Sure.  I don't see any reason why I'd have a problem with that.

Truth is, you never see the pilot.  Unless you've never been on a plane in your life, how do you know your pilot HASN'T been Muslim?

  5. Yes, I would get on the flight....his religion has nothing to do with how well he flys a plane.

Further, homeland security is completely denying his right to due process...they are only 'working on his case' b/c he went to the media...otherwise, he would be yet another person who was blacklisted and only years later was found to be innocent.

  6. I beleive in freedom of religion.  So, yes.

  7. Have you really ever met the pilot that is flying your plane? I've only seen a couple of pilots on some of my flights and I am sure more than one must have been muslim. I don't think it's got to do with anything.

  8. Don't really need to know any personal details about the pilot.  If the pilot is qualified to fly the plane, has a current commercial pilot license, what more do I need to know?

  9. you are perpetuating problems. How do you know you havn't already been in this situation. There are security and background checks for a reason.  dangerous people don't often get to fly planes. geez

  10. Of course I would.  Do you regularly check the religious affiliations of the pilots of the planes you board?  How silly.

  11. I certainly wouldn't feel as comfortable as if it was somebody who wasn't one.

  12. Not at all! Unfortunately you don't get to read a biography on your pilot before you board the plane.  Still, I don't think I would have a problem with a muslim flying me to my destination. Not all are bad.  A white guy can be the next terrorist.

  13. Of course.

  14. You already have.

  15. Sure I don't see why not but I probably would have a problem if the pilot was a christian white racist.
