  1. I would hope so.  The gene pool needs to be culled from time to time, and people stupid enough to try and hang off of a power line would be a good place to start.  20-100,000 volts would do the job.  And if you grabbed the 100,000 volt line, there wouldn't even be a mess to clean up.  Carbon flakes are not hard to clean up at all!

  2. depends if you hold the one wire, if you complete the circuit. think of birds on a wire

  3. If you're well off the ground hanging from just one of the power cables, you will not be hurt in any way. You are not 'Grounded' (Earthed).

The electricity takes the path of least resistance...i.e..the cable.

(Birds can very often be seen sitting on high power cables...do they 'disintegrate' ?...No, they're quite happy sitting there).

  4. Of course

  5. A high level current would go though you causing muscles to seize up, but the pain of being shocked would not be there.

  6. Don't try this at home - but if someone lowered you in a helicopter from the sky and you contacted only ONE wire at a time - you wouldn't get electrocuted.  You would jump to the potential of the wire - say a high voltage 50,000 volt line - but since you are not completing a circuit, no current would flow through you.  Professional linesman actually use this technique to work on live apparatii. It's the current that kills.  (Approx. 100mA is enough, so it doesn't take much!)  I hesitate to answer questions like this, because some knuckleheaded numbskull or kid will actually try it.

If you don't know what you're doing, stay away from electricity - it's a very unforgiving mistress and it only takes one mistake to die.
