Question:

Would you give information to someone like this?

Say there are a few young people, probably students between 18 and 25 standing outside a popular building (Campus store, library, secretary of state) offering to register people to vote, but these students aren't wearing anything that tells if they belong to a particular group (they just have plain outfits on and no pins, signs, or tags). They are willing to tell you who they are with if you ask. The register forms require full names, addresses, phone numbers, and license number or the last 4 digits of your SSN. On a scale from 1 to 10, how willing would you be to trust these people? Would male or female make a difference? If you wouldn't trust them very much, what recommendation would you give to them to make them seem more trustworthy. State age and gender if you are comfortable doing so.

  1. No way. My rule is...if they want my details, they should be prepared to give me theirs.

  2. no way! to be safe, go to your local secretary of state or other government office that handles voter registration. don't just hand out your personal information like that.

i'm female and 26 years old.

  3. Sounds like a 1.5 on the scale.

    I'm male, 17 years old.

I'd advise them to set up something semi-official looking. A table. Papers. Buttons. You get the drift.

  4. Not to sound like a bad person but I'd give them a zero on the trust scale. Age and Gender make no difference. Mainly because that's sensitive information and I don't trust anyone with it. Id rather register at a place where I know it's 100 percent legit.

    18 year old male

To seem more trustworthy I'd tell them to get with the group of people who are known to do it. Nothing against their persons at all. I'm just very careful with that stuff.

  5. I would give them zip voter registration laws require you to ID yourself and your organization.

Sorry but you broke several Federal Laws and could be charged. I would not work with this organization again.
