ISRAELIS and Palestinians could play alongside each other in a team representing their region in an international Australian rules’ football tournament in Melbourne this year.

The AFL will be staging its third International Cup in August as part of celebrations to mark the sport’s 150th birthday, with teams from 15 countries already expressing interest in taking part.

The Israeli/Palestinian team would be known as the Peres Peace Team. The junior players have never seen the game played - nor even seen a football - or know the rules (Hmmmmm, not knowing the rules would make them excellent AFL umpires material!).

My troll had my previous question on this subject removed as I was reported for 'chatting'.

Not knowing the rules would place them well to be administrators too.  Perhaps they could help advise Demetriopolous on some new rules ...

But may I remind you that you properly mean:

    Israeli vs Palestine

    OR

    Jewish vs. Moslem's.

Palestine is a place not a religion.

I would go along - solely for the novelty of it.

A match like this would be a good curtain raiser, or half time entertainment, during a senior AFL game.
