  1. Do check out Elderhostel.  Wait, don't worry, it's for youngsters like yourself.  You can have a single room or share with a new pal.  I have found the people to be wonderful, curious, intelligent and always a pal to be found in the group.  Many singles travel this way.  I have been to Venice twice with Elderhostel and Padua.  Check out their website.

  2. I toured Tuscany for a week on my own, and really came to enjoy eating by myself.

If you need a bit of company, try a few hostels, as you always meet people there, wheras hotel rooms can be the lonliest places to be.

  3. Go for it mate,i went alone to thailand and cambodia. You will soon find people to talk to and socialise with, enjoy youself you only live once.

  4. Go, you can have fun alone!  There's nothing wrong with eating alone.  You can take a book or newspaper to read at dinner.

  5. I have travelled alone and I enjoyed it. Bring a book to read at dinner, or eat meals in a casual place like a bar or pub where you will surely find local characters to chat with! You might consider taking a group tour as well.  Enjoy your travels!

  6. I have done it. I stay at Hostels and u meet other people. u get used to eating on ur own in hotel! Just do it--- it is an experience.

  7. I didn't go overseas by myself but I have traveled alone and it is fun. You meet interesting people along the way and you get to do what you want to do. Go for it.

  8. just got back from 2 months in spain was great give it a go just use your head

  9. I'm in my early 20s and female. Here's a list of places I've travelled to on my own:

New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Bahamas, Pennsylvania, Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Bratislava, Vienna, Brno, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Bonn, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Luxembourg, Milan, Venice, Kuala Lumpur... the list goes on.

I LOVE travelling on my own - you have the freedom to do what you want and get to meet all sorts of cool people. My best advice for evenings etc is to simply take a book / newspaper to dinner with you so you have something to look at if you're self conscious. Also, consider whether you really want a meal out - a picnic every other night can be just as nice, cheaper and without the stigma of sitting somewhere where everyone else is in a couple or group. I'm happy going to the cinema / theatre alone too when abroad - you may feel a bit self conscious initially but then the lights go down and you can just enjoy the show.

I'd say go for it - try it once and if you don't enjoy the trip consider other options in the future.
