  1. I sure would!

  2. It sounds great. I lost interest in idle travel a long time ago. I think that type of travel adds a different perspective which is much more socially conscious, as long as the charity work is really meaningful. Of course, some people who slave 50 weeks per year do deserve their 2-week all inclusive vacation in a beach resort, but I personally prefer something more challenging like what you are talking about.

  3. I would go on a vacation which combined some useful work ... but gardening wouldn't be my choice (I can't get the enthusiasm to do my own garden so why should I travel to do someone else's?) ... I think getting involved in a useful community project would be a wonderful way of visiting a place because you'd get really involved and see a side of the place you'd never knew existed as an ordinary tourist

  4. I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.
