Question:

Would you go swimming with a 2 month old piercing?

I got the web of my hand pierced around 2 months ago. Its healing quite well but is still crusty and sometimes has a tiny bit of puss.

My friend just asked me to go swimming and I said yes but now I'm panicking about it getting infected.

She says chlorine is good for piercings.

Is this true?

  1. DO NOT USE hydrogen peroxide. it will simply close your piercing, or it will try. Use antiseptic. You can get those at any piercing store or Drug store. You can swim but remember to rinse the pierced area after. my friends just had piercing done and started swimming in the same week. It was fine. Just clean it after.

  2. Chlorine can be good for piercings.

I went swimming almost a week after I got my ears pierced, and I haven't had any complications since. Even if chlorine is "bad" for piercings, all you have to do when you're done is rinse it with clean water and put some hydrogen peroxide on it. (hydrogen peroxide is just basic wound cleaning stuff, it doesn't sting, just fizzes) Also, hydrogen peroxide IS an antiseptic. It does NOT close up the piercing. You can find it at any general store or pharmacy. It's usually in a brown bottle.

    Hope this helps-
