I'm thinking of opening a place where we provide meals from local farmers...a good place for families to take their kids and locals to come in for lunch or a cup of coffee.

  1. I definitely think thats a great idea!  I love authentic home made food no matter what style.  Food which is grown by local farmers comes to you fresher, and guarantees quality taste.  These are things I personally look for in a restaurant, but let's not forget friendly service.  I can only speak for myself in saying I'm a patient person.  If the service is a little slow, but the food is excellent and the people are friendly I'd definitely go back.  Good luck in your endeavor!

  2. This sort of thing MAKES me patron a restaurant!  I'd definitely go and recommend it to all my friends!  (Assuming the food was good of course - lol)  I love supporting local farmers (and winemakers!)  I live in Virginia and supporting locals is the way we do it here   :)

  3. I would go...i'm into that sort of stuff....organic, local, etc.

I do think that you have to think about the demograhics as well. Will people that aren't into that stuff really care about local food, or are they really there for the conversation....perhaps in the country?

Or is this restaurant in the city, where people might be more into organics and local food.

Also, will your menu change based on the seasonality of things that are in season? I think it should. Are you in California, where there is an abundance of local seasonal food, or are you in michigan?

  4. yes, i would.....i love the grandma kitchens ... take you back to the time .. as a child and you were at your granny's... go for it...
