Question:

Would you go vegan if ...?

you knew that each litre of cows milk contains 1000+ cells of puss (because of disease)

chickens who produce eggs would be slaughtered at 100-130 weeks, their bodies useless for food production and their b*****s too oversized for them to enjoy a healthy life as a pet.

you knew that wild hens would produce around 10-12 eggs a year while factory farmed hens produce around 300

an egg is the hens equivalent of a period

??

i'm not vegan .... infact i'm not vegetarian (i eat fish), but if i had the money and the freedom to make a choice without risking my health then these facts and figures would make me change.

  1. lucylucy- the whole point of her posts was that cows aren't out there grazing!  they're being tortured in slaughterhouses.  ugh.

money shouldn't be an issue to go vegan... beans aren't too pricey....

but it is a lot harder to do... and it's a big change.... i'm completely veg (no seafood)... i eat cheese and products made with milk and eggs (ie cake) but not milk and eggs... and i use free range eggs if i must buy them....

but in general, most people don't know ... or care... where there food comes from :/

  2. We don't have the money either, but I'm still vegan. I just don't buy a ton of "health foods" that are labeled vegan. So please don't use that as an excuse. Looking at the cost of meat, no buying it would be cheaper, no? But yeah, I did go vegan. I'd rather not eat chicken periods >.<

One last by the way: Going vegan or vegetarian doesn't "risk your health". If you eat all of the food groups and exercise, you're health will actually improve.

  3. No.

Just because some of the standards and conditions for some industries are horrible, doesn't mean I should give up all meats, eggs, and so on. I grew up in the country, eating fresh eggs and getting beef from a local butcher. While I do not endorse some methods for mass production, it only has a bearing on where I get my eggs/beef/chicken/ect., not whether I should give all that up.

  4. hon,  you don't know the half of it.

    already vegan.

'nuff said.       wait until you find out what processed food is made out of and what is in most vegan processed foods...

  5. No.  I am aware of all those "facts" (I use the term loosely) and it doesn't bother me.

Are you aware puss isn't alive and milk isn't sterile.  OMG!!!  Really though, that's why we have pasteurization, sampling protocols, and refrigeration.  Not to mention 1000 "cells" per litre is wildly insignificant.

  6. I know those "facts" and that does not bother me.  I will not be a vegan any time in the foreseeable future.  I have slaughtered animals and worked for a short while in a slaughter house.  Do you know how many rat pellets or bits of insect are in each quart for wheat?

  7. No-I will still Drink cold whole milk with my two eggs over medium, three slices of bacon, toast. And I will still eat my prime rib medium rare, with a nice merlot. If i felt i was suppose to graze then why wasn't i born a cow?     LUNA-not all cattle are raised in this manner. Not all chickens are treated this way.I live in a very animal friendly rural area.My chickens eat well, roam free,My cows, produce some of finest calves in the area. They live a very nice life.Better than a lot of people.  Not all people who are not  "vegan" mis treat animals.Nor do all non-vegans condone industries that do.They do not buy eggs from co. that are known to abuse, nor do they buy meat from places that inject hormones, are inhumanily slaughtered. There a alot of other sides to this.

  8. In my opinion, what you put inside your body should be a conscious act. You appear to have considered this issue quite rationally. You quite correctly point out that "food" produced within the factory farm industry is unfit for human consumption and is unbelievably cruel to the animals involved.

Your only "excuse" is the cost.

I can only say through personal experience that while some vegan/vegetarian items may at first appear to be costly, they are in fact a bargain compared to the conventional "food" which has had all of the life forces processed out of it, injected with chemicals, antibiotics, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides etc. Not to mention the bad karma which resides in the dead flesh of the animals which have suffered within the prison-like confines of an intense factory-farm.

The alternative is real food with real nutrients. You will find that your health will improve and you will realize that the food you used to eat is a big cancer-causing ripoff.
