Would you have a microchip inserted to monitor your health?

Hi I am a University student and am just wondering how far people will let technology help them when they reach old age, I know many of you aren't at that age yet but please think for future.

(If all was proven completely safe) ***Would you consider a microchip that could monitor your heath and could send information wirelessly to a doctor to review if there was a problem?*** please can you answer with YES or NO, your age, and any elaboration you feel necessary

What if this was the only way that you could stay at home rather than going into a care home or hospital?

What would you reckon if it was a bracelet rather than a microchip?

Thank you

  1. I would not accept a microchip. However, I might consider a bracelet for short-term monitoring (to stay out of hospital), but would require the ultimate ability to remove this if so desired.

We are so concerned that Big Brother is watching us (and rightly so) that the question needs to be asked: 'who is watching those who are doing the watching?' Is all the information gained necessary and furthermore, properly protected. These are outstanding issues that have been highlighted by loss of numerous records - by government depts - in the past 18 months...

    Age group: 35-49

  2. No ... how can you trust that it was only monitoring your health? I intend to leave this world with basically what I came into it with, and microchips ain't part of the deal. (fillings and maybe a hearing aid later excluded.)

  3. nope - 31

  4. nooo

  5. No.  I am 32.  Not only would I not have the microchip implanted even if it would let me stay at home, I would actively work against the people pushing the idea.  Politicians have shown us how slippery the slopes can be.  If they were to get people to somehow accept this idea, I promise you that it wouldn't be long before they were pushing for everyone to do it for health reasons.  A few years later they would be pushing to make it manditory.  If it were a removable braclet that I could, say cut off with sissors, then I would probably do it.  I at least would consider that.
