Would you help a homeless individual if you knew they had a drug & alcohol problem???

Sometimes I give them money, if I have cash on me. Other times I offer to buy them a sandwich. I tend to see the exact same homeless people everyday, I'm always civil and respectful to them, sometimes that's all I can do.

Sometimes I can tell if they are not actually homeless...ie...a guy who used to sit in a wheelchair listening to an iPod and he had a Bluetooth phone asking for spare change.

That would depend how bad they wanted to help themselves.

Yes, if they were wanting to help themselves. Most just want to keep doing the same thing. Half of them got there by acting like that in the first place.

I don't care too much for pan handlers, this is a country where you can make it if you try hard enough. Why should I give my earned money to someone who just wants to buy drugs, and not work for themselves. I've given them food before, good food, but I won't give them money.

Yeah i mean they really need help you know. I kind of feel bad for them.

I would help them by offering them what they ask for.. food, clothes, etc.  Money, no.

I work with street people as outreach worker yes there are some that just want money for booze and drugs but a majority have serious deep issues that they are using booze and drugs to cover up those issues,some were abused so much that they use drugs and booze for a temporary escape from those thoughts of abuse.

Then there are some out there with mental issues and should be in a home for mental issues but gov. shut places down so these type with mental problems cannot live in a regular home because of how they act out that`s how some of those end off in the streets.

So not all are just bums as you call them.
