Question:

Would you ignore the RB position in the first two rounds if you have the last pick in the draft?

The new season is coming up and I'm trying to get my strategy going.

Last year in my 2nd championship in the last 3 seasons in our private league I kind of caught lightning in a bottle by not drafting an HB until round 5 or 6(Brandon Jacobs) and drafting Garrard late that allowed me to trade away Peyton Manning for another top WR.

would you ignore the RB position for round 1 and 2 if all the non RBBC running backs are all gone?

Last year first two rounds for me were Peyton Manning and Terrell Owens

  1. I wouldn't wait that long to draft an rb. My first year i played i drafted mcgahee with the last pick in the 1st round and in the second i picked larry johnson. That was 2 years ago and i finished 3rd overall in a 12 team league

  2. Odds of doing that again are slim. That is unless you are playing with a bunch of waterheads.

  3. man, i know how u feel, the same thing happened to me, i'm telling you to don't take the risk, The RB position is very important. Don't risk it.

  4. There are many strategies that can work out if you happen to get the right players late, but it's pretty risky waiting thaqt long for an RB. I probably wouldn't do it - particularly since this year there may be a few more other position players going earlier that will strengthen the RB pool at your slot.

Obviously it depends on who is actually available at your pick. Go in with an idea of your strategy, but don't miss the opportunity to pick up good value just to follow a particular pre-set idea of what to pick when.

  5. RBs are too important to be ignored.  You can't always count on catching lightning in a bottle.

  6. i'd be afraid 2 take the risk

  7. No, you need a RB in one of those 2 picks. Get yourself a strong Marion Barber III or Marshawn Lynch then you could go either Moss or TO. How many teams are in this league? I assume it's a snake draft so you've got 2 picks in a row.

  8. No way, u have a bad Running back u lose simple, pick a Runningback in at least one of those rounds.

  9. I would recommend getting at least one RB with those two picks. You may be able to get Larry Johnson with that pick. Then, you can work on WR or QB in round 2 and 3 and the rest of the backs come in around there. There are back out there that will be low ranked that will play very well. Lendale White, Kevin Smith and Rudy Johnson. Also, keep an eye on Kevin Jones. He's battling a rookie for Chicago's RB job.
