Would you leave your child with a 16 year old babysitter?

On October I am planning to get my babysitting license.

The problem is I am 16 and I don't know if a lot of parents would trust a 16 year old to take care of their children.

Does the fact that I am going to have a license put people at ease? I hope that people will be interested in a 16 year old watching their children.

What do you think?

Would you leave your child with a 16 year old?

Would you atleast give it a try?

  1. Well yes I would if the person was responsible, good with kids, doesnt seem like a wild person, dependable, trustworthy being in my house, not a slob, a good first impression is always good!

A license yes. When I was 12 I got mine. Now days ppl like that ease that they at least took classes on babysitting. And you do learn some good stuff.

It is a very good way to get yourself out there. And there are tons of ppl that need babysitters. And it can be some gooood money!Give it a try!Put signs up or a ad in the paper.

  2. Probably not. It would depend on how long I knew you but either way hmmm doubt it. And if I didn't know you even if you were certified there is not a chance. It would be nothing against you personally I just wouldn't do it.

  3. Either make sure you know and trust her and if you don't, make sure she has a child care certificate (took baby sitting classes).

  4. I'm 12 and I babysit for a little girl that's one and her brothers are 4 and 8. And another little girl who's 3. yeah I think you'd be fine.

  5. Many parents will leave their children with a trusted teen.  I'm not one of them.  Mine aren't left with adults except for emergencies.

  6. Well I started babysitting when I was 12...but I've been around children all my life!!

Don't really understand why I got a thumbs down for being a responsible person!!??

  7. I'm fifteen and I babysit one kid pretty regularly (20 days in July).

  8. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't leave my child with a 16 year old, if I had a child.

  9. Of  a matter of fact I would, with my oldest son whos is 5 years old. Babysitting is a big resposibility - especailly when you first start - at that age you're mature enough. As for my 3 week old baby - no, it is not that the parent won't trust you, it's because babies are very fragile and you hear abou shake baby syndrom - and mostly happpends when the parent leaves the child to someone else to look after. Don't take it the wrong way at all or offinsive - if you dont get employed right away. You having the babysitter certificate is such a bounus and I am sure you will gain clients along the way throu experince.

  10. yes bc i am am twelve and people leave their kids with me all the time just be a mature person and know how to handle kids good luck and you will do fine

  11. I wouldn't, but then I won't let most adults watch my kids either. If you were a friend's kid and I trusted your morals and ability, then I would. I have a friend with a 16 yr. old and I'd let her babysit in a heartbeat.

  12. If you went to babysitting classes (yes they have them) and can give me references of other parents that you sat for, sure I would hire you.

  13. That would be the minimum age I would leave a child with. I would interview them ask for references etc. I would want them to know CPR and first aid. I would have them come over a few times as a "mothers helper: to see how they interacted with the child. I would be carefull with anyone that would watch my child-no matter their age. I would most likely not leave an infant with someone that age though, I would prefer someone a bit older

  14. i have a lot of relatives who enjoy watching my son so I have never had to worry about it. I guess for me it would not matter the age but 16 or 60 a license would not matter as much as the personality and the feeling I got interviewing them. I watched kids at 16 and younger and so did my sister and we never had problem finding kids to watch however we are from a small town where everyone knows everyone at least a little.

  15. No. i wouldnt. my two year old is difficult for me to handle at times, it would be dangerous to leave him with anyone less prepared.
