  1. I would do everything in my power to prevent that wedding from happening

  2. he's going to be 54?:O

no offence but she sounds like a gold digger-thats the impression she'd give off but she's practically an adult so i think she'll do it if she wants.

  3.   It would depend on the place that you live at. In the states, most put the legal age of adulthood at 17. If so, you cannot stop her from doing anything.

  4. if she's happy, then i'd let her.....you can only stop her til she's 18 and then she'll do what she wants anyway

  5. I'm not sure you could do anything to stop them.

I would talk to her and try to keep the lines of communication open. What I want for my children is for them to be happy. I would rather her marry an older man, than some loser who beats the c**p out of her or beds her mates.

Not an ideal son-in-law but her choice.

  6. How could you stop it, In the UK a 17 yr old is classed as an adult.

To some of the answers saying you need parental permission to be Wed, You could be right, I dont know,But I understand a 17 yr old can be  tried as an adult in a court of law ( if they commit an offence), Where do you draw the line?,,its certainly a tricky one.

  7. No, he would be far too old.....

But she might just go away and do it anyway!!

  8. Even I'd be hard pushed!!!! But in response to your question no I wouldn't.

  9. I would be very unhappy about it, but what can you do she is at an age where she can go ahead, I would just be there for her when it all went wrong.

  10. I'm 49 and my wife is 18 things couldn't be better.I do think 17 is very young for a 54 year old.They should wait a year.

  11. no

  12. Personally, No.

I would wonder about the motive of a 54 year old man with my 17 year old daughter.

In the UK, you need parental consent to marry between 16-18 and I wouldn't give it.

  13. You can not stop people from making mistakes, you can only give them advice..

  14. Nope. Anyway I don't think they can get married until she's 18 if the parents don't want her to. I think it's 16 with parents consent, 18 without.

  15. NO!

    if you do your crazy!

  16. Is he rich?

  17. So how would you stop it?

  18. If you love your daughter you'll let her make her own decisions, tell her your concerns then tell her that no matter what she decides you'll always be there for her.

Surely her being happy and you biting your tongue is better than you trying to stop her and loosing her for ever?

  19. I'd corner him somewhere dark and beat the c**p out of him. He's obviously a kiddie fiddler !

  20. there is nothing I can do about it.

  21. Hi, In answer to your question my answer would be no way. But once she got to 18 then she could marry him without parental consent.  Ok at the moment the 17year old thinks things will be moonlight and roses, but i know a lot of people whom have married older men/women and when you are a 20 odd  year old stuck with an old moaner things soon change. But people learn by mistakes and some the hard way.

  22. I would do everything possible to put her off (and him), but at the end of the day I'd rather have my daughter than lose her.

  23. NO chance. And i'd have a good talk to my daughter about her morals.
