Would you let your baby take longer naps while teething? ?

Don't know if I should stick closer to schedule or let him nap. He seems to struggle at nap time because he's hurting. But, once he's down he's so over tired. Thoughts from other parents?

  1. I have 4 kids and they all slept more when teething. A doctor once told me that an infant will not 'oversleep'. They will sleep when they need to, if not bothered. And its ok to let them. This is normal.

  2. I have two healthy sons, and both of them slept a lot. Baby's job is to sleep, eat and grow up.Let the baby sleep.

  3. I let my DD nap as long as she needs to within reason, i will wake her for a feed but have let her miss lunch and replaced with a bottle if she has been that over tired as i would rather she slept a bit longer

  4. I can't imagine what sort of neurotic wouldn't let a baby sleep when a baby was tired. What benefit do you hope to obtain by sticking to a "schedule"? Strict scheduling is associated with failure to thrive for infants, and will only serve to make a drudge out of their mothers.

  5. I let my son sleep until he wakes when hes teething.  He needs it what with all the pain I bet he just gets extra tired. Good luck!

  6. I would and make sure you sleep right along with him : - )

  7. When a baby sleeps, I say let him sleep.

My youngest is almost 6 months old, and never slept more than 3 hours his whole life. He suffered from Colic and bowel problems and when he sleeps, if you make a noise - I have a look that will turn you to ice.

Let him sleep, poor darling. Their little teeth hurt them, and sleeping is the best thing for them. When I am ill or have an ache, I like to sleep.

  8. I always let me daughter sleep as long as she wanted to. Still do. Never wake up a sleeping baby.

  9. My son's always sleep as long as they want. They're babies, they'll sleep as and when they need :)

  10. Hi if my baby is teething or even when he wants to nap I would just let him for as long as he wants, he obviously is sleeping longer so its for a reason, If you dont need to be up and out anywhere they should be really no reason for him to be woken, he will only be cranky and even worse if he isnt allowed to sleep, but its your child do what you think is best.

  11. I always let my babies sleep as long as they want to...until they are around one year old...they have both slept right through the night from 4 or 5 months old. I don't believe in schedules and a baby who is sick or teething should definitely be allowed to sleep when they choose...
