My brother in law gave us tattoos lat night and for lack of a better word she was FASCINATED. My husband made a remark about the grandparents being angry about letting her watch that. I can't imagine why they would be, would you be angry if someone let your child watch a tattoo being given?

Just as an a side, he is an aspiring pro tattoo artist and has bought ALL of the equipment himself, including an autoclave for sterilization purposes. Alice's experience included seeing how things are sterilized and cleaned before and after the tattoo. She stood by the couch and fanned me (so cute) while I was getting mine done, I was sweating copiously.

Anyways would you let your child watch you get a tattoo, if you were going to get one that is.

  1. Depends on the age of the child, if they are a teenager then yes probably, but if they are a young child then no, there vvouldnt be a reason to let them and i'd be afraid that it vvould scare my young child.

  2. Why not?

Depending on the age of the child I would keep a close eye on markers for a bit to prevent the kid from tattooing their whole body when nobody was watching...

  3. Yeah, I don't think it's a big deal. =]

  4. I don't really see the big deal. My kids have asked how do you get a tattoo and I explained it to them so what is the difference. If someone else let my kids watch I might get mad, but if it was me or my husband that would be fine. And that is too cute she fanned you.

And I agree even if a kid got a hold of a needle one poke and they would not continue LOL that is a bit ridiculous and if someone was bringing their child along I would assume they were watching them, not just letting  them run around the tattoo shop and yours was at your own home to boot, its your child and your choice. My MIL would probably disapprove as well, its just an age thing.

  5. Why not? My daughter has seen me get my blood drawn before. As long as you're not screaming and showing her that it hurts, I don't see the harm in it.

And as for her grabbing a needle herself and trying it. Obviously, she should never have access to that, am I right?

  6. Absolutely. They're going to see your tattoo anyway and like most children they would probably ask a million questions about it. It's better that they watch and understand how it got there etc. Just be sure to tell them that it's something only adults can do and it's not for kids.

  7. both my kids have seen me get tattos i dont see y not

they are works of art if u get them done right not like home made 1 that look c**p

my kids was amazed when i had mine done

i take my kids to give blood too

  8. I personally don't see anything wrong with her watching. But it really isn't that sterile to be getting a tattoo in a living room.

I know all his stuff was new and straight out of the box, BUT on the other hand, maybe she should be told that it's better to go to a shop to do it. Where it is usualy much more sterile.

  9. I personally see nothing wrong with tattoos, I have 2 myself and several piercings, but I wouldnt let my children watch, no. Not that you are wrong, but me personally I dont want my child to see me in pain or doing something painful to myself. Might make my child grab a needle and jab herself to be like Mommy. You never know kids take things out of context due to lack of maturity ya know? But whatever works for you all!

** I am not dumbing down anything, and I was not being rude in the least so by the thumbs down I can see some people really fly off the handle too easily because of my OPINION. Like I said, WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU. I personally know from being a Mother that kids do try to do what you do, maybe jabbing a needle is extreme, but not drawing all over their self, or getting into your makeup when your not looking, sticking the plunger in the toilet etc. They repeat actions was all I meant.

And now that I see I am already the bad guy I'll be completely honest, the people who like me say "no I wouldnt" get the most thumbs down because we dont want to expose our children to the environment, just show how many TACKY people their are in the world, and this website at that. Thumbs down away, tattooing is art, but not in my home.

  10. I wouldn't have an issue with it.  When my son was 11 months old he saw me get my first tattoo.  He and my husband went with me and I got my husband's military insignia tattooed on my back in commemoration of his deployment and military service.  Connor thought it was pretty neat!  My husband greatly appreciated it as well.

Maybe your daughter will have great talents in the area of tattooing.  It's an art, and some people seem to forget that.

  11. Sure, I wouldn't have a problem letting them watch, if they were interested.  My stepdaughter (then 15) came with to watch me get mine.

  12. When my first son was born my husband and i both put his name on us, we took him and he just played on the couch, didnt seem to bother him.  We just had our second son and plan to get his name put on us as well, we plan to take both kids.

Oh, the first time my son was about 9 months and now we have a 2yr old and a 4month old

  13. i don't think i would just for the simple fact she is only 5 years old and having they equipment in the house she might try to do this herself!!! i have 6 children and you never underestimate them.

  14. Sure, I don't see the harm in it.

No big deal in my eyes! :)

  15. I see no problem with it...

  16. I saw someone getting tattooed on TV when I was maybe 9 or 10 and I was fascinated. It's 30 years later and I never got one, BTW.

I don't think there's any harm in it.

  17. No, I wouldn't let mine watch. I wouldn't be angry, but I just wouldn't so it.

I have a few tat's and my kids ask how I got them and whatever. But I'd never take them to the parlour because it takes on the door *No entry for under 18yo*

I'd never get a tat at home, so it's no big deal for me.

    ----

Oh gee 2 thumbs down - For having my own opinions. GeeWizz Sorry.

Baa Yes it's totally fine Baa They have no right to be mad at you Baaaa, everyone should get tat's infront of their kids Baaaa.

Some things I have learnt, not everyone parents the same. Like I stated in my answer, I had no problem with what you did, but I wouldn't do that.

  18. Why not? I would never get one, but I don't see the harm in a child watching someone that wants to get one

  19. im 13 and when i was 8 i saw my dad get a tattoo.

it didnt scar me and im not gonna run away and get one.

as long as u explain to them that it is for adults then i see no harm.

if anything it would make ur kid not wanna get a tattoo when theyre in their teens.
