I was mesmerised into watching the

Amir Khan and Harry Gomez fight last night juist before going to bed and I thought how dreadful it would be to be especially the mother of one of these men watching their son being beaten up so badly. Why dont they stop this "sport" once and for all. I felt sick to the gut watching it and felt like crying when I saw the badly beaten up bodies.

  1. I would be horrified to have any son of mine indulging in boxing.

I think the problem stems from the vast amounts of money that are involved in this so-called 'sport'.

These young fit men never consider what effect this is all having on their brains and the rest of their bodies.

They are willing to accept the risks for the sake of the fortunes to be made. Lots of them come unstuck !

Now just a little verse I have written on this very subject.

A boxer makes a million pounds

For fighting twelve three minute rounds.

A tragedy that such vast gains,

Reward the damage to their brains.

  2. they will never ban boxing. its a sport and with most sports come big dangers... i.e football, broken legs, clash of heads. rugby, the risk of breaking everything.

to ask for the banning of a sport that you do not follow is wrong!!! if you ban boxing, then you would have to ban all forms of competitve martial arts, then all thats going to do is make a lot of very hard people not very happy with you lol!!

but i think gomez would have beaten khan if they were both the same age, khan seems to have a chin made out of crystal as what my mums glasses are made of, i just touch them and there in several peices!!!!

  3. you know nothing about the sport so just shut your mouth and change the channel in future! i am sure amir knans mum is very proud of him

  4. To be a boxer's parent is one thing. To want to banish the sport is another.

First off, boxing gives fighters many opportunities to feed their families without breaking the law. It's an honest business and very hard work. Without the sport, many fighters today would have still been on the streets causing trouble. The sport is a positive outlet for aggression and youngsters with too much time on their hands. On the entertainment side, it is great fun and many people do not get hurt as bad the title fights on TV. C'mon now, not everyone is Mike Tyson! Go look at the statistics for bicycle injuries before you say boxing is dangerous. At least boxers are trained to take damage.

Boxing gives hope to people and watching people struggle through adversity is what makes it such a great sport. If you're squeamish at the sight of blood, then go watch something else like the Disney Channel. You should go complain about endangered animals being slaughtered defenselessly for the sake of pure sport before you complain about a group of trained athletes being paid large sums of money to do what they love.

  5. there are much more important things to get upset about. famine in the 3rd world, homelessness, child abuse, cruelty to animals the list could go on & on but wether 2 consenting adults want to take part in a contact sport for which they are well paid is not one of them.

i played rugby when i was younger & i came home in some states, broken bones, cuts, broken nose etc & my mum (&then my girlfriend who is now my wife) used to patch me up!!

all my family used to come & watch me play ,mum ,gran, grandpa & i would have missed there support . had i chosen boxing not rugby they would have backed me just as much.

i don't want to rant but please get some perspective on life & save your tears for what counts.

  6. Boxers are tough guys, they knew what they were signing up for way before they signed up.

It's a great way for poor people and immigrants to get rich, and one of the only ways. Aside from the fact that it entertains millions of viewers.

I'ts a good sport leave it alone.

  7. I am sure that durting his prime, you would have prefered mike tyson to stay in the ring.

  8. They do it because they love it. Don't feel bad for them, their sport is so endearing and meaningful to them. Be happy for them, they're a part of the VERY select few in this world that make it big.

I'd be proud of my kid, absolutely! Why? Because they'd be living their dream. I will never stand in their way of achieving their dreams.

Of course I'd never want to see them hurt, but that is the sport. They know that.
