Would you like to live forever? (homework poll)?

Question

My son has to do a poll for class so if you could help by saying yes or no.

And maybe a short reason for your choice that would be great

Also if your comfortable including if your male or female that would help when he makes his graphs.

i am a female... and that is a tough question.... yes i would like to live forever, without any suffering at all... but we all know that will never happen...... everybody's gotta go sometime...

Yes, but it would be conditional on good health and family and friends living forever with me. I am female.

What a good question! I'm Female and No, I would not like 2 live forever. If everyone in the world lived forever, I'd imagine that it would get pretty cramped here!

Only if I could avoid the decrepitude of aging. If, like Doctor Who, I could indefinitely extend my life by regenerating, I would find it an exciting prospect.

I have read stories about people who were granted eternal life, but then just kept getting older and older...It was not all that it was cracked up to be.

See also the classic movie "Zardoz" where a group of people made themselves immortal, and lived to regret it.

Female-- no, all my family and close friends would die. I would be living with to many painful memories.

No, I don't want to live forever.  As long as we are human and mortal, our bodies are going to wear out.  I don't want to face forever with an aged body that no longer functions well.  Can you imagine being born, growing up, growing old, and then spending the rest of forever in an old body, with bones that break easily, eyes that don't see well enough to read, ears that have limited ability to hear, muscles that can no longer pick up a 40 pound grandchild for a hug or a swing or a piggyback ride.  Or worse, live forever inside a body that can no longer communicate.

If I were to live forever, I would want to have a young, strong, agile body that doesn't age.  If that condition can't be met, then no, I don't want to live forever.

I wouldn't want to live long enough to see all my family and friends die, I would get lonely and depressed.

Also, I've seen enough movies involving "immortals" and they all seem pretty miserable and full of angst over a multitude of their own issues, so 'no thanks' to living forever ; )

No - when I first read the question I thought maybe I would, but you'd just see everyone around you die and that'd be very depressing.

Have you ever seen the film Highlander?  He's immortal and meets a woman and they live together but she grows old and dies and he's still as young as he ever was - makes you realise that it wouldn't be that great
