as every body has titanium helmets now so no danger there any more ,the bouncer was a legitimate weapon in the 70s used by the WI to great effect

it might spice things up a bit

  1. Heheh... dude... the ""BOUNCER"" is STILL a legit delivery... You are ALLOWED to bowl a bouncer in every over.

I think you are referring to a "BEAMER"... (i.e. a Full toss directed usually at the rib cage) - To the best of my knowledge, a beamer has always been an illegal ball.

    But I may be mistaken....................

  2. No, what we have now is more than enough.

  3. i feel 2 bouncers in a over per batsman is number. there are other weapons also to be used agaisnt batsman its not only the bouncer. i feel that if bouncer is used effectively then only one bouncer is sufficient to take teh wicket

  4. We already have the bouncer(2 per over) What are you on about.

  5. i think the number should be increased to 3 per over, with the gentlemans agreement to take it easier with the short balls againist tailenders, as i feel that will give the bowlers a weapon back, considering so much in cricket now is to help the batsman that the bowlers need to be given something.

for example you remember guys like Joel Garner, the first bouncer he bowled you, he would hold back just a touch, trying to get you to hook, or at least think about hooking the next short one, then he'd come in, bowl the next bowl as a bouncer at full pace and just about take your head off!!! the 3rd allowable bouncer would mainly be there to keep the batsman thinking "whens he gonna give me the 3rd bouncer"
