  1. Oh certainly not!!!!!!  I would have starved to death.  Just can't imagine myself killing an animal.!!!!!!    As to the second question?  They sure are.  They invented fire didn't they?

  2. Live there? No. I can't imagine life without a washing machine or labor without drugs! Besides I am 36 so I would probably be dead!

However, if there was a time machine, I think it would be fascinating to go visit for a week or 2. Probably during the summer....warmer and more food!

  3. No!! I can't imagine living like a cavewoman! Never, never, never!

  4. I do believe they were pioneers...................I wouldn't have wanted to live the way they needed to live in order to survive. I wouldn't have wanted to be a pioneer in the 1800's, either. Those brave souls who did live then were living a harder life than I can imagine. Medicine has come so far since then. Rights of individuals have come SOOOOO far. Children are not considered property, now, but, they WERE then!

    Life is great, now!

  5. Actually I think it would have been pretty cool. Fire had been developed by then and weapons had developed beyond simple hand axes so predators were less of a problem. As far as not living past 35, I have noticed that tribes who live a nomadic or semi-nomadic existence do have members of their tribes that live to old age even those that are solely hunting and gathering tribes. I think that we get the impression that they didn't live that long as once organized settlements initially started they had problems with hygene and bathroom facilities. While most cavemen who lived in Europe and colder regions would not have bathed in winter months they obviously would not have gone to the bathroom inside the cave and would not have lived in one area long enough for disease from their f***s to affect them. I also have noticed that "primitive" tribes in Australia and Africa will bury their f***s in the ground which was probably a trick that our "primitive" ancestors knew. It was also a trick that Old West settlers used with the outhouses. As far as tribes living in warmer areas clothes would not have been worn as much and rain water would have probably served in some way for bathing. Also, as far as tribes to the north, even though they are often refered to as "cavemen" they rarely lived in caves. Caves in Europe were actually very rare to come upon and would most likely have been inhabited by bears or other predators. If you watch "Extreme History" on the History channel they did a series of shows on early humans and it turns out that once tribes started migrating into Europe they began building small shelters that were actually better than caves at protecting them from the elements. You can still watch the episodes on www.history.com.

  6. Not really, I used to teach survival and from that experience I can say I prefer cushy a/c comfort.

  7. no and since Adam had a house theres no proof of it...i like books!

  8. Nope!!!!

  9. You would have lived to be about 35 years old if you were lucky. You couldn't run to the drug store when you had a headache.

If you were luck you may have eaten once, if your food didn't move to fast and, it may have gone down still alive.

You would have been high on the food chain list, of other predators. You life span, beside living to 35 years with good health, would have been cut much shorter had you been to slow, the slowest one was eaten by whatever was chasing them.

Do you still want to be a cave man/woman?

  10. ooooh yeah, I love being pulled around by my hair me . . .  lol

  11. Lots of people think that's how we live here in Wales anyway - so ,yes, I can assure you all - it's OK  !!

  12. Such a life was mean, nasty, brutish and short.

  13. No

  14. I would like to camp in a cave for a couple days :) Were (prehistoric) cavemen/-women pioneers of a new world? What do you mean with "a new world"?

Here is an article about prehistoric cavemen:

A caveman is a popular stock character based on how early humans or hominids may have looked and behaved. The term is sometimes used colloquially to refer to Neanderthals, Cro-Magnon, or Homo sapiens of the Paleolithic era.

The term has been discouraged for its inaccuracy, as it mostly refers to misconceptions of early humans. In the past, many people shared the view of the 17th century philosopher Thomas Hobbes that the life of a human being without civilization was "...solitary, poore, nasty, brutish and short". The modern scientific perception of prehistoric lifestyle is now that of the hunter-gatherer.

Cavemen are usually portrayed as being hairy, clothed in animal skins, armed with bone or wood clubs, unintelligent, and aggressive. Stereotypical depictions of cavemen tend to show them using clubs to knock out potential mates, then carrying or dragging her by the hair to his cave. They are often shown as living contemporaneously with dinosaurs, a situation totally contradicted by archaeological and paleontological evidence which shows that dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago, at which time the only mammals were small, furry, and four-footed. Furthermore, cavemen are often shown as living in caves; but this stemmed from the ritual paintings found in caves: it is more probable that the caves were religious gathering places or temporary shelter, and not the actual dwellings of the supposed 'cavemen'. Thus, expressions such as "caveman" or "living in a cave" have become cultural metaphors for a modern human who supposedly displays traits of brutishness or extreme ignorance.

  19. Hi Lindsay,

If you would really like to see what living as a real caveperson was like, I would suggest you search the video shops and locate a movie titled, "Quest For Fire".  It was rated as one of the most accurate portrayals of prehistoric times ever.

    Peace,

    Buzzy
