  1. As long as my 17 year old single daughter didn't end up pregnant I don't see why not.  If I can't control my family how in the h**l am I going to help control a country.

  2. A very good City Council member or maybe a Senator from Alaska.   But I expect more from a candidate for Vice President or even Mayor of a Large City than a narrow experience and good intentions and bias.

I know many such women.  Who hold down far more difficult jobs and have more issues on their plate and still manage to raise children give far more inspiring speeches when called upon and work tirelessly and endlessly,  But I live in a city of 1.5 million people where Sarah Palin would not be very exceptional. We had 5 women holding all the top seats in our state at the same time one is now our Govenor.  Our Governor is a female, has been attorney General and is far more qualified on all counts than Sarah Palin. She is a Democratic Governor in McCains home state so she really can deliver to all the People in the State.  She is one of the top 5 Governors  in the Nation.

As for Phoenix, our Mayor, a male,  is real big city mayor.  And we do have Sandra Day O'Connor as a role model who is very impressive and very mature. In case you do not know she was the first female Justice Appointed to the Supreme Court of the US and is a Republican.  Or Betsy Bayless or so many women who have given better commencement speeches at graduation than that nomination speech.

That is just in the poltical arena at the top.  There are also countless women who deal with specific issues and have professions of their own and still raise families, work tirelessly and can deliver great speeches. I was very bored and disappointed in Palin's speech.

Most people I have worked with  do not have a speech writer or days to prepare and do a much better job. That is not Republican or Democrat evaluation.  Its simply objective from someone who has been President or on the Board of State and City organizations sometimes two af a time.  Raised two sons both of whom went into the sciences in College and are doing very well in their chosen fields.  And did it all with a husband who as a Pediatrician was always seeing other people's children so we used ot joke we were single parents with extra laundry.

So I am sorry but Palin is not up to the standard I expect for Vice President or anything beyond what I have seen people accomplish in terms of changing policies, fighting corruption or whatever.   She is cute and clever and all of us in politics whether elected or working on issues can handle the nastiness or the rumors or the stuff she has handled with dignity.  It goes with the terrritory.

Sorry but she does not make the grade.  A big fish from a little pond.

Last week we had a freak storm that snapped power lines uprooted trees and caused serious damage for about 10,000 or more homes.

That is bigger than anything Palin has handled in all her experience.

The mayor still had provide all the services for the remaining  over 1 million people that were not affected.  Plus deal with other cities that are large and nearby.

Although about 20,000 homes were hit as I understand.  We had patrols going  through neighborhoods that were totally dark.

Dri Ice was handed out at the fire station since our temperatures are over 100 degrees.  This Saturday the City will come by and pick up all the cutdown trees and debris.  I see no signs that Sarah Palin could handle something like this.  She sounds way too lightweight.
