To wax her eyebrows at 15? Sorry if this is kinda petty but I wanted to ask it here instead of Makeup to, you know, try and predict what my mom will say lol. Cause there aren't a lot of moms that go to the Makeup section... My eyebrows aren't, like, freakishly bushy or anything but I kind of messed up when I was plucking them and... yeah. So yeah, would you? I'm kinda embarrassed to ask her. ):

  1. Probably for an initial shaping. However, I would not let my daughter (I only have sons) get a high arch because it's too mature a look for a 15 year old.

  2. yeah, just show her where you messed up and ask her if she'll take you, I'm sure she won't just let you walk around with a goofy eyebrow.

  3. you are 15... i feel thats old enough to get your eyebrows waxed... i started doing my eyebrows at 11 but mines were " freakishly bushy" lol... just show your mom the damage you have done and hopefuly she will take you to get them fixed... hope she says yes..good luck

  4. Can she pay for it? Maybe, if she used her money. But if she messed up and didn't ask for my help, I would not pay.

  5. Sure, especially for a freak accident   ;)

I think if you tell her you need help and that you feel embarrassed, she'll be glad to be included, as teens are so busy trying to be tough and independent. Good luck!

  6. yeah. I think 15 is a perfectly acceptable age to have eyebrows waxed.

  7. My sister is 14 now...I took her at the age of 12 for her first wax.

Now mom does this for her during the school year and my older sis and I take care of it in summer.

  8. I wouldn't have a problem taking my daughter to get them done.

  9. Maybe ONE time just so she could see how to shape them. After that my daughter would need to learn to do it with tweezers or pay for the waxing herself.

  10. Sure..if thats what she wanted...

  11. I would consider it.  However, if you've over-plucked, waxing won't help.  You'll just have to let them grow back in.  Perhaps you need a trim more than a wax.

  12. Well sure I would. It's no big deal getting your eyebrows waxed and it would be something you could do together, kind of like a special thing you two only do together.

  13. I would if i had a daughter and i would have loved my mom to do something like that with me

  14. Yeah its not a big deal.

  15. My mom did. Actually, I think I was a bit younger than that the first time she took me, though I don't really remember, as it was a while ago. Well, I'm seventeen, so it feels like a while ago. Really a couple of years isn't all that long.

Then again, my mom never set an age for makeup, and still buys me the occasional lip gloss or eyeliner. She feels, and I agree, that things like makeup and being able to get your eyebrows done is like a layer of protection. It sucks to feel uncomfortable with your appearance, and if something as simple as concealer or an eyebrow wax can help, then she's all for it.

Actually, my mom still takes me to get my eyebrows done if I ask, but I usually prefer to just take care of them myself. It's less painful (tweezers don't take up a layer of skin) and it costs less.

As for what your mom would say, I really don't know. My mom's mom would have (and I think actually did) say no. Different parents feel differently about these kinds of things.

Don't be embarassed to ask (odds are your mom has had her eyebrows done, or has done them herself in her lifetime) but do be prepared to make your case carefully, and then accept her response.

Explain to her that you are uncomfortable with how your eyebrows look and that you were hoping you could get them fixed. Offer to pay. If she let's you pluck them, she probably won't mind taking you to get them done professionally, especially if she doesn't have to foot the bill.

Basically, be mature about the conversation and remember that your brows will grow back eventually.

Honestly, if you overplucked your brows, waxing won't help (though they might be able to tell you how to hide your mistakes), but if you wait for your brows to grow back in, and then get them waxed, you can just follow the shape they make and maintain them. Then you won't mess up again.

Good luck, and I hope things work out.

  16. Yes I would If she feels like there something wrong with her eyebrows

  17. Sure. Its fairly inexpensive and looks good. Don't be embarrassed. Its something girls do.

  18. Yeah, I would if it was something my daughter really felt she needed to do and I could afford it. Don't be embarrassed. She's your mom, she loves you and will understand. :)
