I am tired of living in the US. I have one 8 year old and one 1 year old. I have an income of about 700 a month. Would it be possible?

  1. Lets see...700$ a month would equal about 365,400 costarican colones..

It's not enough to live extremely luxuriously but you will live very well.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country with one of the best education systems in Latin America. It's a very nice place to live and raise children.

I would recommend you visit and live there a couple of months prior to moving so you can get a hang of things there, learn about costarican culture and decide if its your thing!

  2. No.  I live here with 2 children and you will be miserably poor on u$700/month.  Also that will not be enough for you to meet the residency requirements.

I understand why you- anybody- would want to leave the U.S., I did it many years ago, but most gringos that come to C.R. fall in love with the place and within 2 years are trying to leave to go someplace else.  Usually back to the States.

Try coming down on a tourist visa for a while.  Try living here for a couple of years before making the full move.

  3. Costa Rica is a beautiful place. I've been many times and I know families that live there. However, its not a pick everything up and move thing. You have get citizenship there if you want to stay. You earn 700 a month here, but what would you do there? You would need work. It is very very in-expensive to live there. But you need to ask yourself those questions first. Also, can you speak Spanish?

  4. Alot of americans go and live in costa rica. It is a beautiful place to live especially close to the beaches. As far as work it is like living here u have t find a job just like here. ANd as safety every part of the world has there good and bad places but u just need to be careful and stuff. Good luck

  5. Moving anywhere is possible.  I would be concerned about things like:  Schools, Safety, Jobs, Housing, General Economics...do your research before you just uproot and go.

  6. yes it would. i go there almost every summer and im going this summer. there are many people with incomes of various kinds in number and movie stars who can afford luxiourious mansions or homes, but thats entirely your choice if you choose a new lifestyle. There are wonderful schools.  I went to Country Day school in 5th grade-its bilingual and they have wonderful teachers. (im in 10th grade now)....well i hoped I've been helpful to you and your family.
