Would you name your baby the same name as your friend/family?

I dont really have too much of a personal opinion, but as my daughter has a 'different' (Amali May Dawn) name, i think i might be offended if a close friend/relative chose the same name

. Its already happened with my sons, (Dylan and Kane) and I found I was quite proud that people liked their names enough to copy, besides, they werent close to me. Whats your opinion? Why do i feel one way about one chlds name, and not the same with the others???

well my names Kerry n my cuz (1 year younger) is Kerri ann but everyone calls her kerri to... so when ever our families r together it gets soo confusing.. but people know to call her kerri along wit her last name! but its confusing cause we both look n say YA? n that leaves one of us looking like a dumb $hit for saying YA when they werent calling for u .. maybe cause their not that close to u u really dont see them n dont mind!

the name thats rly important to me... the one that is original i would be mad beacause i want that name to be the only one... so maybe since u sons name are less original and u feel more attached and feel that its ur name for the other

I would never try to copy the names of close friends or relatives, but if they copied the names I had chosen I imagine that I would feel pretty bummed out about it. I guess we all would like our children to feel like they are special - if they have the exact same name as other people in the family then they are no longer unique - they suddenly become "Big Amali" or "Little Amali" - some may find that sweet, but if you were hoping for something original it can be a bit annoying. I guess you should just feel good about that fact you have such good taste. :-)

i think you feel differently because your daughter's name is a lot more unique than either one of your sons' names. Dylan and Kane are very nice names, but not as different as Amali. Amali is very unique. i think i would feel the same way.
