How would you feel about naming your child Lake? It is pronounced like the lake you swim in.It can be used for either a boy or girl.

I wouldn't name my child Lake...but it may work for someone else's child. I won't name my kids after:food,candy,colors,or bodies of water...but as I said those names work for other people's children,just not mine

I kind of like it.  It's unusual but actually not too over-the-top, to me anyway.  Although I can also see the potential for teasing (big as a lake, or whatever), I can also see the kid being quirky and independent (but not in a socially awkward way lol).  I love that it could easily go either way for a boy or girl though.  It's close to Luke so it wouldn't too terrible for a guy, but it's also quite nature-y and whatever and that would make it feminine enough for a girl.

I personally probably wouldn't use it, but not because it's a bad name, but because it's just not my style lol.  If I ever did though, I'd make sure to at least give the kid a more sensible middle name, like Lake Alexander or Lake Elizabeth.

Although I swear I think I've heard Lake being used before as a name, maybe on an actor or actress or someone, but definitely somewhere lol.

I would probably say Lake would be an alright name for a boy. Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, once said, a name is nothing but a word. He called his daughter Apple.

my grand daughter Jayde's name would be Lake Christopher had she been a boy. There is a football player somewhere named Lake that her dad likes. It took awhile but I grew to like it. I think for a girl it should be spelled Layke.

actually it's not that bad of a name.  There's someone I know at a different school who's name is "Orangejello" and his brother's name is "Lemonjello" and they pronounce it "oh-ran-gel-oh" and "leh-mo-ahn-gel-oh" so Lake isn't that out of the ordinary.

It's nice- I don't think I'd choose it personally, but it's still a good name.  It seems more appropriate as a girl's name, but I love the name River for a boy.

I think the actress Lake Bell is beautiful... that's the first person I've heard of with that name.

No, I can't stand dumb names like that.  Ocean, River, Rayne, Sunshine, ugh............There are beautiful nature names that are actually names.  Lake isn't one of them.

I think it is cute for a boy  BUT  i would not make it his first name...Lake Everette, Lake Evan, Lake Aaron...You get me?  In fact, even as a middle name you have Evan Lake....No I wouldn't name my child that.  He would be teased for sure.
