  1. Yes. I live in a high density area which would be a poor choice for such.

I used to commute on a weekly basis between Washington, DC and San Francisco.  The flight was five hours.  Most of the fly-over territory was very low density.

I chatted with several folks that along that 300 minute flight that if we could pick ten one minute segments and turn each into a 1 square mile waste disposal site, we could store all the hazardous waste developed in the history of man, with room for plenty more.

But... Which ten square miles?  How much buffer space around each?

We don't want it in a major city or in the suburbs around one.  But that leaves a lot of space.  And that is just the USA, which is a fraction of the land area of the world, which is a quarter of the total area of the planet.

The environment would be well served if those, who claim to be blocking the construction of waste disposal facilities in the name of the environment,  could be shut up long enough to pick a few spots and be done with it.
