Question:

Would you pay extra for hormone free milk?

According to "Acres" magazine, the FTC denied Monsanto's request that rBGH free milk not be labelled as such b/c it implies that rBGH is not safe. The FTC denied the request, but now the PA Secretary of Agriculture has decided that PA producers cannot label rBGH free milk because he said some people were charging more for it. Don't consumers have a right to choose hormone free milk? Some already pay more for organic foods. . .

  1. yes, i do pay more for organic milk. to me, it's so much more worth it to pay a dollar extra for something i believe is healther for me, and especially my teenage daughter (having milk with hormones can effect those who are still growing much more). if you look around at your grocery store, you can become more familiar with the organic brands and i think it is really worth it.

  2. no because milk is milk

  3. I grew up on organic  milk since like I was 5 when I was raised by my grandparents in europe.  Havent had milk since. the milk that we buy in the u.s. tastes like c**p

so yea i'd pay more for good quality milk

  4. We have been drinking regulare milk for years and no one has had problems...at least me. I will stick to my hormone milk and no way will I pay more...its just another scam to get more money.

  5. It depends...how much hormones are you currently taking?  I'm up for something a little wild but I don't want to put myself in danger!

  6. The rBST or also called rBGH may being used within the milking herd, yet rBGH as the synthetic form is 99.9999% the same as the real amino acid complex that is found in dairy cattle naturally.  There is no way to test for the product as it is basically an exact replica.  I grew up on a dairy farm and understand the complexities of producing Grade A milk and have always consumed the milk straight from the bulk tank.  Too many of you fear the boogie man when it comes to the foods we eat.  Relax, eat a variety of foods and enjoy life, it really is not as bad as some of you make it.

  7. It sucks for the poor people like me that we have no choice in the matter. All we can afford is the tainted stuff. I want to eat health organic all natural foods but I would loose my house rying to eat healthy. It's not fair that fast food has a dollar menu and a head of lettuce cost as much as a combo meal.

What can you do though. Thats america. No wonder there is so many obese people in this country.

  8. Milk is mixed with cow urine. I'd only pay more for pure milk.

  9. I drink milk with added hormones, delicious.

  10. no dawg

  11. thats wrong, though the government tries to change a lot of other things too. i always buy hormone free milk for a number of reasons. all in all its just a lot better

  12. There will be a choice.  It's kinda like getting organic food.  I will not pay more.

  13. no..its those who worry about all that little stuff who ends up with cancer that had nothing to do with the little things

  14. Thanks for the information.

Yes, I would gladly pay more.

  15. No I would not. But if given a choice between rBGH laced milk and milk free of this artificial hormone that may well be linked to the far earlier onset of puberty in girls I would buy the hormone free.

That said,  I would not buy either if raw milk from local, pastured raised, drug free cows was available at up to $6 a gallon. I will likely not knowingly drink pasteurized milk again.

Ohio is trying to pull the same stunt as PA. unfortunately for Monsanto several thousand people found about this and 75 showed up at the first hearing/listening session over this issue. many of these same people have been contacting the state congress people (none of which knew this was happening BTW, but do now and are not happy about it) and writing letters to all the state's newspapers. Now that there is some sunshine on this issue it seems to be withering on the vine.

FYI, one of the main reasons given by the PDA for this labeling rule is we consumers are simply too dim to comprehend product labels. In other words, we are all stupid and need to be protected by the state and corporations who know better than we do and if our rights need to be destroyed so be it.

  16. No I would not pay extra for hormone free milk. Frankly, if you would have to look at the ingredients of everything you eat you would not have a life nowadays. Most every food item has some ingredient that supposedly is not good for you.

  17. if its something someone is against and trying to avoid a chemical  they should have the rigth to know whats in the product theyre buying as for wether i would buy it or not i think i would for now if i ever have a lot of money id pay the extra for the hormone free milk

  18. there are already plenty of options available for milk that is hormone free.

this is old news and not worth fighting for.

    Already resolved!

  19. 50 G's

  20. yes! and i do! i drink organic milk! believe it or not, it does taste different! and after the things i have heard the hormones injected into cows can do to us...!!!!!!!! i'll continue to pay the extra dollar for a half gallon of safe milk to keep myself safe as well!

  21. I think we should def. have hormone free milk but w/o the extra cost.

  22. Nope, I dislike the taste of milk, haven't had a glass since the sixth grade.

However, I know tons of people who would pay for it.
