Would you please help me in programming search engine in ASP.NET?

I Have to program a function for searching something in a (sql server) database in ASP.NET platform, but unfortunately I don't know how to do it.

especially I don't know how can I make relation between SQLsever and ASP.NET. would you please help? I 'm fresh in ASP.NET

Why not use PHP and MySQL?  Don't waste your time with Micros**t and be stuck with something that's probably unportable and definitely substandard.
