We are thinking of buying a house, and the idea of a prefab sounds great.

We are still in the talking stage right now, as we are giving ourselves a year to everything figured out.

Would you buy a prefab? Why or why not?

Anyone here live in one?

  1. I thought they were okay until I saw the one my daughter rents. Everything on the inside is done on the cheap. Cabinets, doors, door frames, bathrooms fixtures, etc.

  2. It depends what you mean by prefab.  Some people refer to trailers as modular homes.  But I think more along the lines of a Wausau Homes http://www.wausauhomes.com/ which are on a foundation or basement and are assembled as kitchen module, bathroom module, etc., are often multi-story, and look as good as an onsite built home.

So it sort of depends whether the home itself was ever on wheels.
