I think that's what I'm going to do. The little boy suits seem kind of tacky on such a tiny one. Curious to hear what others have done. Thanks.

  1. We have a family christening gown. My grandmother made it for us out of a linen tablecloth my mother bought in Ireland. It is not frilly at all, and we used it for our son and daughter. We embroidered the baptism date inside the hem for each of our children. It's a nice tradition. I like the idea of a gender-neutral gown (no flowers, lace, etc) that can be used for all children, and eventually the grandchildren as well.

My son was 3 months old at his baptism (we waited until my grandmother could fly in from abroad for the ceremony).

Traditionally, all children are Christened in a gown, regardless of gender.

  2. My son will be six months at his baptism and I, personally, really find the suits to be adorable.

  3. everyone i know has put their baby boy in a christening gown. now if he were able to walk, i'd have to say go with the suit.

  4. I would if i had a little boy...i would put a cute bonnet on him too! \

He is too young to worry about masculinity especially for his Christening

  5. Yes the gown is a good idea but of course no pink or flowers, I think lace might be okay if it's not ruffles though.  I swear I've seen a baby blue cross on a chrsitening gown before.  But no PINK on your boy!

  6. Of course...unless he is old enough to "not be a baby" (which he isn't) then I would opt for the suit.

  7. Back in the Middle Ages boys and girls wore christening gowns. It does matter whether is it the suit or the gown, just make sure that your son is not wearing pink, with lace or bows. LOL!

  8. My son was about 4 or 5 months when he was dedicated.  I bought a white, satin christening romper with little white satin booties.

  9. My nephew wore the same gown my daughter wore. It was plain white, beautiful, but pretty gender neutral. Go for it. If he's not walking (which he shouldn't be) a gown is perfect. Just pack clothes for him to change in to if you go out to dinner or have a party. Gowns can be itchy.

  10. Of course i would ,christening gowns are nice. if you hate them put over him in a romper suit and put trousers and a T shirt on him.

  11. Sure....I do not think it matters.  The suits are kind of dorky and the gowns are beautiful.

  12. thats what they're for.....especially for such a young boy
