I would rather write a poem because that's what I'm better at doing. I'm not into mysteries anyway. Poems are a more broad topic.

poem because i can express what i feel or what others feel in a simple way. Its an art and i think i'm ok at it ...

Because I'm not much of a writer, I'd rather write a poem.

That way, if no one understands my writing, or says it's lousy, I can just explain about the abstract mysteries of a poem and how only the poet can truly understand the emotions.
