I rather be US. In my opinion US won this year's Olympics. We have beat China by 10 non-gold medals. Which wuss cares about gold medals? It's only 15 more gold medals that China won. Big deal.

It doesn't matter how the world media and all the other countries rank their medal tables. We couldn't really be bothered. China can go for the gold all they want, we will focus on the silvers and bronze!! Afterall, it is the total that counts. Every American knows that!!

  1. Will you people all give it a freakin rest already?

    Why do people insist on devaluing all of the athletes by saying that "we" (being the US, China, or any other country) won X amount of medals, when in fact it was the ATHLETES that worked hard, won those medals and deserve to be celebrated.

    We should be proud of every athlete that went out there and competed and represented their country.  Period.  End Of Story.

    No Country "wins" the Olympics.  Athletes win medals and that's the end of that story.

  2. At the end of the day, countries are ranked by medal count so I'd have to say USA all the way!

  3. It's all about the gold!

  4. In my opinion America was a bunch of sore losers especially in gymnastics. She had to blame the workers in the stadium for distracting her and this made her fall of the beam and also land on her bum during her floor routine! Come on!! As if!!! The ENTIRE stadium has routines happening all at the same time so how can this only distract her and not everybody else???

    America has to make an excuse for themselves because they cannot accept being second best. They have been the super power country for far too long and its now time to step aside. China's economy is now way stronger then theirs so they cannot accept the fact that even in sport they will lose to China!

    All medals are important but gold is the icing on the cake. Thats way they list the medal tally in order of gold medals!!

  5. I could care less about overall medals or whatever. The Chinese wanted to win the medal count and got a bunch of medals in obscure sports with less competition. I don't give a d**n if the US got a truckload of gold medals in table tennis, weightlifting or diving. Does China have the best athletes because they won a bunch of medals in sports that most people could care less? Gymnastics is really the only big sport they dominated.

    I was more interested in the basketball, swimming and track. And we did very well there, aside from the sprinters. In fact, I'd have given away all but Phelps' medals for the gold in men's basketball.

  6. Go ask all the Chinese that won Gold. They aren't trading them in. So I guess Gold is BETTER.

  7. If you were and athlete what would you rather win a gold ,a silver or bronze.

    Also do you think Phelps would still be in all the papers if he won 8 silver or bronze answer this and you will have answered your own question..

  8. 3 points for gold, 2 points for silver, 1 point for bronze

    China -> 223

    U.S. -> 220

    So it seems China won

  9. It seems like you're the kinda person who believes everything your newspaper says... Unfortunately its the your media thats printing all the rubbish coz its usually the Americans who are making the most noise. And they shouldn't be too happy. Their glory primarily came from 1 person. They only got to 36 golds because Michael Phelps won 8 golds for them, they are pretty much a lot weaker without him.

  10. I would rather be china because more golds means they have better athletes.  But in saying that people say that China'ss gold medalist in gymnastics was under age

    Hope this helps

  11. Get over it

  12. It doesn't matter, does it?  I remember the days when the USSR always dominated, so it just doesn't seem like a big deal to me.  I wouldn't want the US to make an all out effort to go after gold medals in events like handball or kayaking just to up the gold medal count.  The US team did well and brought home about as many gold as they ever have.  Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals, Bryan Clay won the decathlon gold, both basketball teams won gold, the women's soccer team won gold.  Can't complain.

  13. china 51 gold

    usa 36 gold

    understood?

  14. Honestly, who freakin' cares who won the most medals blah blah - be thankful you have the population, athletes and money to represent your country.  Why not be gracious in defeat and humble in victory AMEREICA AND CHINA...so sick of you both bickering over who won.

    No country won the games - its just a running tally of medals so countries can keep track of what they have won.

    BUT, to answer your question, I would rather be China and win 50+ Gold medals - thats over 50 of the best atheletes in the world.  I would rather have 50 gold than 1000 total medals.

  15. Give it a rest!!

  16. I tend to like my liberties so I will still take the US with zero medals.

  17. Yes, US cares about gold medals but because you were beat you have to reassure yourselves that you are no.1. Well anyway US is full of 2nds and 3rds. All just Losers i my book!

  18. I'm an American, and I'm sad that we didn't win the most gold!

    and according to the math done above, it does seems we lost

    but wutever life goes on

  19. 2nd place (as in silver medal) is the first loser....
