  1. Death!

You have no idea what happens when you die

when you speak, ok whatever it actually goes by faster than you think and then everyone forgets pretty quick.

  2. The point is about being phobic. I think people are phobic from both but when you come to the point of having to make a public speaking all your fears are gathered at this point seeing it's so close while death may be so far in relation to the public speaking mission.

  3. Death or rather the bit that goes before. I'm allergic to pain!

I'd much prefer to stand up and speak in public than face the final pain.

  4. death is scary. but if you have trouble speaking english  it's tough

  5. Neither one is scary.

  6. the problem with that statement is that hardly anyone has had to confront death directly, as opposed to how often people confront public speaking. So when asked which scares them the most, and they've had no experience confronting death, but they have with public speaking, they'll choose public speaking as causing them more fear. But I'm sure if they've ever confronted death, like being shot at with the intent to kill you, or having bombs raining down on you where you could be killed the next second, people would give death a large margin over public speaking.

  7. I'm not the least bit afraid of public speaking

  8. i'm not scared of either one

  9. I'm okay with public speaking.

    I mean, yeah, if I didn't have to do it, I wouldn't.

    But it's not that bad.

  10. death is not scary..it is miserable and sad..public speaking is definitely scary...but i can get it over with if situation demands...between the two i would choose the freaking public speaking any time of the year..lol

  11. that is the stupidest statistic ever!

rather die? that is really ridicous!

i would rather speak in front of millions, even billions of people than die. life is precious and a gift.

This is what is scarier than public speaking: drwoning, being eaten alive, suffication, dying of a a liver, STD, heart or any disease, drug addiction, failing my tests, encountering demonic butterflies, being sold into slavery, being raped, getting abuducted, McCain becoming the president...there is so much more!!

Compared to a WAR or any other thing, i have to say public speaking is at the bottom of my list!

  12. aha that's funny, there were many times when i was about to give a speech that i wish i would just drop right there. still do lol

  13. PUBLIC SPEAKING!!!!!!

  14. I'm sure most people would opt to do some public speaking rather than be killed right there and then. The thing is we surpress our fear of death, because if we didn't it would just overwhelm our entire lives. Also, death is quite far off for lots of people so we tend not to think about it.

And of course there are the religious people who think they're going to go for heaven when they die (hate to spoil it for you guys, but it's not gonna happen), or that they're going to be re-incarnated.

  15. That is a quote that you hear all the time about public speaking.  No one can say where this came from.  This simple test would be to tell someone "stand on stage and speak or I'll shoot you".   I think everyone would rather speak than be shot.

  16. Of course death is nothing that you should be afraid of unless you did something really terrible. So i guess if my death were natural like death from old age I would be more afraid of public speaking.

  17. i'm going to go with death. usually when ever i have to do a speach or something no one is really listening anyway haha.

  18. I fear neither, though I personally think death is a more irational fear than public speaking. There is no reason to fear something you can't avoid.

  19. DEATH IS MORE SCARIER!!!!!

    how wants to die

  20. Possibly some truth to this, because most people have accepted death at some point they realize this is a reality, but to speak in front of a audience can be scary in such a judgmental world.

  21. If we really care about our image and performance, public speaking is scary. However, public speaking can be fun and rewarding after practicing.  If public speaking is scarier than death, I bet I want to experience the death by public speaking.  We can experience death a many times in this way.  In the real world, there's only once for death.

Remember, it fun to speak in the public as long as you prepare and enjoy the moments before and after the speech.  Do stand there for a few seconds before you speak by looking around, do the same after too.  Enjoy !
