  1. i think at a place like a diner you would want the same server b/c then they can tell you which specials suit your taste and they don't have to ask you 5 times if you are drinking coke or diet coke..

what do you mean by mix it up?  is he asking you to do different shifts on different days instead of always working dinner?  if so that might be b/c some of the lunch and breakfast crew feel that they are being shortchanged on tips at these cheaper meals..

  2. well, it depends...

If the waitress is bad, I'd rather get another one next time I come.

If they are great, I'd rather get the same one every time =)

  3. I like being a regular and being known by the help.  I think your boss is wrong.

  4. As a restaurant owner myself, I think the owner has probably recieved complaints about 1 server and this is kinda a test.  Usually our regular customers even have a favorite waitress or a couple.  Sometimes we get a waitress that is annoying and we get a complaint.  Sometimes the customer or spouse claims that the waitress is "overly friendly" or doesn't leave them alone or talks too much about their personal problems while they are trying to eat their meal.  Or talks about their person love life and other customers children are over hearing. Or maybe there are shortages and it usually becomes very obvious when the schedule changes who was involved and who wasn't.  So, if you are being professional, getting your work done, not overly friendly with the guests and are not "getting away with something" don't worry, it will probably last a week.  If you know of someone who is walking out with food, stealing, cheating, hanging out at a regulars table, being unprofessional, gossiping ect, start planning a going away party for them soon.

  5. I tend to agree with you. As long as the wait person(s) are competent and friendly, I'd rather deal with someone that I can get to know.

  6. In a eating establishment, especially a diner, the customer goes back for the familiarity of the waitress. Waiters and waitresses have more to do with the repeat customers than the food. There are many diners, but a good waitress who remembers your name, order, likes, dislikes is more comfortable for a person than a stranger everytime.Ask your boss to put survey or "let us know how were doing" cards ont he tables, I'll bet he or she is surprised.

  7. its nice to c a friendly face me and my fam go to the same restaurant every time cos of the peeps that work there as they are so laid bk an u can av a laugh, my bro has behavioral problems too an they know this which makes it easier, they also know where we like to sit and wot we usual order so yes i do prefer the same peeps to be working in a place where i eat

  8. If the customers like you they will come in when they know you are working. If you don't have a regular schedule and they get waited on by someone they dont get good service from they make choose another resturant next time.

  9. I agree with you. I worked at Waflle House for 12 years. Some customers only want a certain waitress. That is part of customer service b/c you learn what the customer likes & dislikes. You may run some customers off if they cant have the waitress they are used to.

  10. I like to see a familiar face when I eat somewhere.  I think if a customer frequents a place enough, the potential for the waitstaff to form a sort of friendly-acquaintance relationship with the customer is much higher, increasing the pleasurability of going to that eating establishment.
