What would you pick? It's also like asking, whether you would pick Derrick Rose or Michael Beasly.

  1. I'd pick Derek Rose...

But to answer you're question, both are vitally important to a basketball team... I'm a coach at district level and I wouldn't be able to choose who has the more vital role...

I will give you an example of my last club I played for, we had the PG... me, and the C... Alex, (And I got association MVP while he only got runner up), but other than us, we had 5 first yr players, and 1 second yr player in our B grade team... Me and alex were dropped down from A's to help out...

But if you took me out, we struggled to get the ball over the half way line, and if you took alex out, wse had 1 shot while we couldn't get a bloody defensive rebound!!!

So both roles are vital in a bball team, and if anyone says that a big man is more important, their full of it...

  2. C/PF Anyday

  3. Well, back in the "golden days" of the NBA, a big man (C/PF) would be the consensus pick, because of size/"big man" skills.

Now a days, you have 6'8 SG's , 7'0 SF's that shoot three's and 6'5 PG's, so really a "big man", in many ways, has become somewhat obsolete. Personally, i would pick a poing guard, mainly because they are easier to build a team around. Big Men need the ball to be effective offensively. Point guards are the distributors of the team.

Most teams that win titles have very excellent guard play. Very rarely has a team had excellent guard/center play at the same time (The Lakers and Celtics are probably the only exception I can think of) and have won consistently.

True big men, although hard to come by in today's game, are probably more coveted because you have a barrel full of guards/forwards between 6'4 and7'0 that essentially do the same things..

  4. The first one, Derrick Rose. Point Gaurd make their TEAMMATES better any day and a PF just make the team better. That's like Chris Bosh compared to Chris Paul. You would take Chris Paul on an average team. Chris Bosh would just do what he can but a PG would disribute and be a great team leader like Derrick Rose. Great question!!!
