  1. I own my own business.  Stressful, but you can do whatever you want, and can make as much as you want.  I made more than my last job after 3 months.  And I make 10 times more than I did.  Just go for it.  Thats my rule.  Good luck.


  2. I've had my own businesses for about 20 of the past 25 years and been an employee the rest of the time. Most self-employed people work much harder and longer hours than employees, and you are not guaranteed a particular salary. Your business becomes your boss - you have to choose between being successful or taking time off. If you grow your business to a certain point, you can start to take time off - in one business I eventually got to work only a 4 day week and made over $100K a year. But I've had other businesses where I worked 70 hours a week.
