Well technically, that adds up to the same thing, a difference of 4 goals. But atleast 5-1 you scored, rather then 4-0 being shut out. 5-1 would be better.

5-1 i not as bad because you at least scored once, whereas 4-0 it was a pretty embarrassing shut out.

i wouldn't rather lose either but its easier to lose by a bunch than lose by one point - plus getting shut out 4 to nothing is pretty demeaning so 5-1

2 - You didn't let the opposition get a clean sheet.

3 - If you tie another team in the league standings, tie breaks usually include goals scored.
