If you found out your son or daughter was either would you be able to handle it?

I wouldn' care either way because the child is my flesh and blood but i was wondering what others thought.

  1. my nephew is 9 and he is autistic. my cousin is 15 and deaf. i love them both dearly and wouldnt wish them to be different. they are who they are. and whatever happened to my baby, id love her all the same.

  2. I have an autistic brothew and I turned out better than other kids my age because of it.  Right now I'm 13, in Y8 at school, and most of the others my age are still getting over how babies are made, and that s*x isn't the most important thing in the universe.  Whereas I have had to grow up because of my brother.  He is different, yes.  But not always in a bad way.  He is special.  As am I.  As are you.  Everyone is unique, and that makes us all the same in one way, like one big, disfunctional family!  But I have matured and achieved highest grades in the year because of him.  I know he can be annoying sometimes, but that dosen't stop me loving him.  He is not a r****d, nor are any of the others like him.  And I strongly resent people who think that he and others like him are.  Just because they are better than you!

In answer to your question, I would rather have an autistic child, (I mean absoutley no offence to deaf people), but only because I have had experience, so I would be more prepared.  Autism is one of those things that we can work around, so that they are more and more like other people, whereas deaf people will always have that disability and I feel very strongly for them, and always get upset when I see someone with a disability, and I pray to the Lord Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven God for you.

But I thank you for this question becasue it has made me think about things that I have never done before.

  3. what

  4. Of course either would be fine, because it was my own child... but I think it would be a little easier with a deaf child. But then again, it all depends on what type of autism.
