  1. you say that like we can just choose to switch.....switch to what....ethanol..proven fraud..hydrogen?  20 years from now ,maybe....electrict?  great if u live 10 miles from work.....THERE ARE NO ALTERNATIVE FUELS TO SWITCH TO

  2. i would ike to see both gas go down and now we're sure we can use alternative fuels to so we can have choices.

  3. I would rather switch to alternative fuel.  Algae and Switch grass is looking to be the sources.  Google VERTICAL ALGAE, and just algae.

Switch grass can be grown on marginal land and is very versatile as far as where it can be grown.  Algae can not only provide natural oil at 10X the amount of corn and sugar cane, but can also be eaten, and it thrives on CO2.  Using a food crop for fuel was/is crazy!

Companies blazing the trail are LIVEFUELS, Inc., and VALCENT PRODUCTS/VERTIGRO.  Look them up and check out the info.  MIT is also doing research on algae.

This is an 'in the long run' solution, and so is vehicles achieving better....MUCH better fuel economy.  I don't think to many people would mind paying $5 or even $10 per gallon if their vehicle could get 100 or 200 mpg.  If your current vehicle got that kind of milage, how often would you have to stop at a gas station?   How long would you be able to go without filling up?

I don't think we will see $1 gas again....not from crude oil.  Even if the US GOV opened every off-limits drilling location, it would probably take over a year to get any of that oil into the system in large enough quantities to make a difference.

If Switch grass and algae live up to the forecasts, let's switch fuels and never look back.   Texas and other states no longer pump the huge amounts of oil they did decades ago, and the Middle East will follow suit.  When they run out, we need to be on our own....supporting our own energy needs through renewable sources.

  4. I'd rather see gas prices go down right now. Then develop hydrogen to be used as fuel in current technology engines.

  5. alternative fuel. yay for being green!

  6. Renewable fuels get my vote - we should also be avoiding the alternatives of nuclear and coal liquification and oil shale extraction.

How long until new oil rigs actually affect prices of gas at the pump?  We should invest the precious oil product into developing the renewables needed.  Newt says, 'Drill here - Drill now - Lower prices'.   In the mean time, China, India, Canada, Australia, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Iceland, and Saudi Arabia and everywhere else in the world are developing renewable sources that will leave the United States out as one of the renewable energy providers and impoverished through the missed opportunity offered at this time by renewable energy.

  7. alternate fuel??? that means we would need to buy new transportation that fuel them...Gas prices should go down, that's the gov't assignment

  8. i think its time to switch to an alternative fuel, look weve used more than half the worlds oil already, its time to switch resources

  9. I'd like to see the government get out of the way of exploration and allow gas prices to go down.

I'd also like to see us continue to explore other energy sources without the governmen subsidising any of it.

  10. i say switch to an alternative because even if the gas prices go down it will eventually disappear. And if we switch to alternative fuels it will help the environment and probably wont run out quickly.

  11. Unless we start drilling for more oil, gas prices won't go down. I'd personally like to have prices drop while we search for and improve alternative fuels but that may not happen. Ethanol may be a good stopgap fuel but it may also create a lot more smog and resulting health problems, and would require substantial refits for most cars as well as a cold-start system is needed at temp below 52F/11C. The least we should do is make it from switchgrass or algae as another poster stated instead of corn, neither of which displace any farmland used for growing food or feedstocks. We can get oil from other sources but since we've been using oil in much the same way for over 100 years, maybe it's time for something new. All electric or hybrids look good, hydrogen is unlikely since it's just not as efficient and would require a lot more infrastructure changes.

  12. i'd rather use an alternative fuel because we need something that would not produce emmissions that are harmful to the planet as is the one gasoline produces

  13. definitely switch to alternative fuel...this will lead to new industries that we can lead as a country in worldwide...this could be the answer to our slipping economic standing in the world....

  14. alternative fuels

  15. Alternative fuels all the way...if we lower the prices people will find the need to drive more causing the oil to run out even faster...we should definitely switch  to alternative fuels already...our future generations are at more danger than we are right now....lets make a difference...lets start now

  16. switch to an alternative fuel with better price

  17. Have gas prices go down definitely. Since finding alternative fuels is a joke, were basically using our food sources that we need to try and come up with fuels which will take years if it's even possible. People in foreign countries are starving because we're too selfish. And no, we wont run out of gas if the environmentalist liberals would let us drill for oil in our own country. If we did, that would quickly solve the high prices you see. The places we want to drill in are in the middle of nowhere so there is no possible way that it can "affect" the environment. that's ridiculous.

  18. i would rather use a alternative fuel because then there will be not as much pollution in the world

but also people should know whether the new substance is more eco- friendly   or worst then gas .

and if gas prices went down there will be more pollution and that is not good

  19. Why not both?  Short term -- increase our supply to at least stiffle price spikes, while investing in long term alternatives?
