Months ago my husband and I booked a cabin for a 3-day camping trip for this upcoming weekend. This cabin is located on a wonderful site with many amenities and planned evening activities. They have an onsite inground pool, miniature golf, playground, plus so much more. It is atleast a 2 or 3 hour drive from our home. I have already placed our deposit of $75. Here is my dilemma: This weekends weather is calling for unseasonably cool temperatures (low 70's) and all-day rain with possible thunderstorms. UGHHHHHH!!! We have only taken our daughters, ages 10 and 13, camping once and they were too young to remember the experience.

Do we suck it up and spend the whole time in our cabin? To me it would make sense to save our money and stay home. We could do all those things here.

OR

Do we take what is left of the camping trip fund and spend the next nicest day at the amusement park? Granted I would lose the deposit I placed on the cabin, as well.

We haven't talked to the girls yet but are planning to ask for their opinion, as well.

What do you think? I really want your opinions. Thank you :0)

  1. First things first. Talk to the girls first because they may want to do the camping thing even though the weather may not be all that great. Let them know there is a possibility (more than likely) that the weather will not be good.

As for my opinion, I think that you should see if you can rearrange another weekend at the cabin. If they are book though that the rest of the season then take the rest of your money and do as orig planned at the local amusement park.

  2. I would take them camping even with the rain, it would be nice to stay inside spend time with your family and play games

  3. Uhm :]

    I have an opinion.

But I honestly think, you should ask your kids.

    please. :]

  4. go to the amusement park

    but ask ur kids first

    wat they would like

  5. The challenge is the rain and cold will affect both events.  So the question would be would you rather spend time in the cold and rain at the cabins or at an amusement park.   I'd go with the cabin.  Just plan for some indoor activities like games, story time, movies or whatever you can think of to entertain the kids.  Sometimes rain and thundar storms are fun.  The key is it will take some creativity on your part when itcomes to activities.  It is 3 days so maybe it wont' rain all three days.  Rain at amusement parks aren't fun.  Cold either.  But if you do choose to do the amusement park, losing 75.00 deposit isn't so bad.  It's better than a 200 or 300 dollar deposit.

  6. i would go camping. i have a 7 year old and a 10 year old who are always fighting with each other but they get along perfectly when we go camping. with the rain and 70's it will actually be comfortable and you will love the quiet family time that will be gone all too soon as they will quickly grow up. play fun indoor games. win lose or draw, cards, board games, carades . it will be more fun than you think.

  7. quality time with my family because i can go to the park any day but i cannot spend time with my family any day because they might be bisey or pass away the next day so my answer is that i would rather spend more time with my family then go to a park because you never know when you might get a range check!

  8. I think that the camping will be more memorable. Even when my family had bad weather on camping trips we still laugh about having to carry soaking wet items to the car or a tent flooding or someone slipping down a mudbank. Obviously it was not funny at the time, but now looking back it made things more exciting.

  9. 70 degrees is NOT cold! You probably don't live in the north...anyways...

One of my best memories growing up was camping. If it was raining, we would have a lot of fun with indoor activities in the camper like reading, coloring, playing cards, board games, etc!

When the weather was clear, we would go outside, run around, swimming, etc.

I personally wouldn't want to spend time at an amusement park.
