Would you rather travel by train or by car?

I would rather not be dependent on the car. In fact I don't have a car but would not be able to get around half as much as I do if it weren't for car owners who are willing to offer me lifts.

This is because the public transport is in a poor state (I live in the UK). Both the rail and bus services are underfunded, shackled to the interests of private investors and extremely vulnerable to cutbacks. In fact I have just got a copy of local newspaper where the local government are threatening to cut back bus services subsidies because they aren't getting the funding from central government.

What that means is that I live in a village between 2 towns, the bus service connecting them has been cut back already and is now threatening to disappear altogether.

Rail services are no better with one Network Rail station serving the area, one local train every 2 hours and poor connections to other parts. The fares are also inflated.

Yes, I would prefer a properly funded, accessible, reliable, publicly accountable public transport system to risking my neck every time I step inside a car.

Train is the best, safest, you can relax and look at the scenery.

Ha, i was going to give a long detailed answer about the benefits of train travel but I doubt your statistics class would care.

For long jurushed overland journeys, train travel is nice.

I would prefer traveling by train, but only if I had a sleeper compartment...

I have traveled between Sacramento,ca. and Kansas city, Missouri several times both by train and car .... I think I shouldn't have started answering this question  as I have no preference I REALLY enjoyed both. My next time there might be by motorcycle. Sorry I didn't help.

I always used to travel by train because i used to get travel sickness in cars. I guess it depends on the length of the journey. I would rather travel long distance by train because it is faster.

Depends if it is across town or across the country. with the price of gas across country it is cheaper to take a train.
