Would you read twilight if...?

Would you still read twilight, and love it just as much, if it didn't have vampires, and Edward was just a human? Or is the vampire part what draws you into these books? What about the wolves? Would you still read it if no one was super-human? I'd like to hear your opinions.

  1. I think it would be boring if Edward wasn't a vampire. Where would the story go?

  2. I had never even heard of this book until one day at work I saw a cover story on a magazine.  I love vampire stories so that's what drew me to it.  I was a little skeptical about reading it since it was deemed a "teen" book (I'm 41), but I gave it a shot and I'm now almost done with the second book New Moon and I will finish the series.  I don't think it would have the same allure if Edward wasn't a vampire.  He could be portrayed as a "bad boy" but it wouldn't have the same edge for me.

  3. i probably still would have read the books even if edward and his family werent vampires. my friend got me into the books. the vampire part makes it a lot more intristing though. the werewolves to me are just another detail in the book until bella likes jacob in new moon. i cant wait until i get the book breaking dawn! im getting it in 6 days and im sooooo exciteded!

  4. h**l no.

the vampire part is the only good part.

the romance is cr*p and i really didnt like breaking dawn.

    so ...eeek. no.

the wolves....well. we have remus lupin (may he RIP) for that :]

  5. Well, I probably would because I am a sucker for romance books. Lol but it wouldn't be as interesting because without vampires what would the book be about. There would be no James going after Bella or any mysterious cullens...so there wouldn't really be a plot.

  6. I  haven't read it, and am not likely to read it, but knowing that it is about vampires would not change anything for me.

  7. I would most likely still read Twilight if the characters were all human, but I probably wouldn't like it as much.  Just like how Edward and Bella's relationship is defined by him being a vampire and her human, the book is defined by that particular aspect.  If they were both human their relationship would be ordinary, and so would the book.

  8. it wouldn't be the same story at all ... ..btw the Host is really good!

  9. No. Having vampires adds suspense and you wonder what's gonna happen next. Having vampires makes it less predictable

  10. No. Mudanes bore me. =P. I don't think so because there is so much of the story that IS the complex nature of the Vampire/Human relationship. The complications are the good part, it make the whole book.

  11. I completely agree with the third answerer.  I'm not saying the book would've been any less entertaining, it's just that the whole concept of the relationship between vampires & humans is what makes the book so interesting.

If Twilight were just about two people falling in love with little conflicts here & there, it'd just be a normal romance novel.  But the fact that this love story is between a human & a vampire makes it a completely different story with unique twists here & there that the reader would NEVER suspect, simply because the behavior & personality of a vampire is different based on the beliefs of different writers.  It just makes the book more interesting.

  12. Well if there were no vampires what the h**l would happen? They sit and home and dance? Pfft. h**l naw I wouldn't read it.
