  2. yes yes yes!! u wont regret it! first if all, they dont smell as long as u clean da cage, second, they r not hard work, and to top it all of theyre soooo cute!!!

  3. no. they are noisy. and smell bad. and my guniea pig refused to eat. and other animals dont like them. ex) cats and dogs.

  4. Yes, because they are really nice, don't bite, easy to care for, cheaper than dogs or cats, and can be trained to beg by lifting a carrot up a bit so that it will stand.

  5. Yes I would, see: www.Guinealynx.com for a care and medical guide

  6. Yes, I would recommend it.  I have two guinea pigs.  They are awesome.  They live five to eight years which is longer than a lot of the other rodents.  They are so sweet and friendly.  I love the noises that they make.  They love to be held.  They are skittish by nature but once you earn their trust you will love them so much.  I think that they are the perfect size.  They are just so adorable.  I have lots of small animals but they are my favorite.  What's not to love.  Guinea pigs aren't noisy.  Mine a good eaters.  They only smell if their owners don't keep their cages clean.

  7. Yes if you are willing to adopt a pair from a rescue or shelter and keep them indoors and provide medical care when needed.

    Please read http://www.guinealynx.info and http://www.guineapigcages.com

  8. Definitely. I have 8, need I say more?

What 'J weezy' said is a load of c**p. Dogs and cats hate guinea pigs? Try telling that to my dalmatian! That is a bit of an over-generalisation. Also, when guinea pigs do not eat, that means they are ill. And she's only had 1 guinea pig so how can she judge them on such a small experience??

They also do not squeak a lot like someone else said. Mine only ever squeak when they know food is coming - I think if they squeaked a lot, with 8 I would notice???

I started of with just 3 but that soon grew to 21 a few years ago! They are addicting little animals. They are by far the best rodent - better than rats anyday (and yes I have owned rats). Guinea pigs do not get the credit they deserve. Altogether I think I have had about 50 guinea pigs and guess what? I have never been bitten by one. I had only 2 rats and they bit me every time I held them!

Guinea pigs come in so many varieties. You can get a smooth haired, a longhaired, or one with hair going in different directions. You can get different fur textures - curly, wirey, soft. The colours to chose from are amazing as well. You really get such a variety with piggies.

Almost all of my 8 piggies will affectionately l**k my hands - it is the sweetest thing! Their behaviour is just the most adorable thing. There is this thing called 'popcorning' that they do when they are really excited or happy - it is hilarious to watch.

Guinea pigs are definitely not a pet you are going to get bored with. Daily they need dry food in bowls, water in bottles (preferably) or bowls, fresh fruit and veg, and hay. You can also give them dried grass and soft straw... depending on how much money you have to spend.

Many people think that guinea pigs are smelly animals. Having 8 of my own I can honestly tell you that is a load of c**p. Their droppings and urine are odourless. Of course after a while of the poo being there it will start to stink after a week - but you should be cleaning the cage at least twice a week anyway!

You can keep guinea pigs outside or inside. Inside is definitely the best. You bond with them better if they are in with you. At least have them under cover, ie, in a shed.

Have a look at my Youtube account. My username is Trinagirl05. I have some vids of my piggies on there. Also check out their photos : -

Don't listen to the c**p that people will give you. They make up negative things just because they want you to get THEIR favourite animal. Hamsters are no where near as good as guinea pigs. Hamsters sleep in the day for one thing.

    Hope I have helped : )

  9. Most definitely! First of all, guinea pigs do not stink. If you change their bedding once a week (if you have an area of 4 square feet per pig) then little or no odor comes from them. The boys can and do stink a lot easier than a girl guinea pig, so I would recommend a girl.

Also, guinea pigs are loving. They love to be held, unlike most hamsters and mice. They love to watch people move around!

They also don't bite. I am sure some will, but most won't. Just be careful when you buy. They can be potty trained, too, although it can be hard work.

Pigs, also, live longer than most rodents. Some can even get up to 10 years!

All in all, guinea pigs are very sweet and wonderful to have.

  10. my family had a few when i was really little. guinea pigs can be a lot of fun, but they can also get really noisy. i recommend getting a young one, that way you can get it used to being handled and train it to sleep at night.

sometimes they can have a temperament to them, but i guess it all comes with the animal.

if you're really serious about getting a small and furry animal, you may also want to look at pet rats. i have two small domesticated male rats, and they seem to be a lot calmer than guinea pigs. i've taught them tricks, and they love to be cuddled and handled. they're very smart, and can pick up on emotions just as well as a dog can.

and please, please try to adopt from a local spca or animal shelter. pet stores can be great places to get food/supplies/etc., but there are so many great animals in shelters that are looking for homes, and they're just as good as, if not better than, animals from commercial pet stores. (check out petfinder.com)

    good luck!

  11. I personally do not like owning them, the squeak a lot and don't really do anything but run around their cage. I would go with a hamster they are fun to watch and hold, a lot softer too.
