Question:

Would you recommend a Disney cruise for two adults?

My mom and I would like to take a cruise this winter. She is in her 40's and I am in my 20's. She really wants to take a Disney cruise because she believes it's safer (i guess disney cruises only take port on islands/resorts they own and run). I would rather go on another cruise line because I don't want to be surrounded by little children (don't get me wrong I love kids... but I want to be able to relax without much distraction on my vacation). If anyone has taken a disney cruise please give me some advice. Should we take a Disney cruise as two adults?

  1. We went a few years ago as an adult couple only and really liked the Disney ship.  I have been on over 10 other cruises on several lines (RCCL, NCL, Celebrity, Princess & Carnival) and I still fell like the Disney ship was the cleanest and best laid out ship of all.  The food was the best out of all the others also!     The upscale dining at Palo's was unbelievalble and much cheaper that the other cruise line's upscale resturants.  Plus they don't bug you to by a lot of wine and mixed drinks.

An unknown fact is that the DCL ships offer a much more segregated experience between adults and kids that anyone else.  You have your own (kid free) relaxation pool and deck which is unlike any other ship.  Plus there are several night clubs that are adults only.

The private island it four times better than any other I've seen. Again they have and adults only beach/recreation/dinning area that is wonderful.   Much quieter and more beautiful than any where else on your Non-Disney private islands.  Exceptional!!

So I say, go and enjoy yourself, be a big kid and have fun where the kids are or go off to the adult areas and have a relaxing time in quiet areas like no other ship has.

Just as a helpful hint, I use my longtime Travel agent for better deals than you'll get from the cruise lines.  Plus much better service and helpful hints than the big online agencies.

The entertainment is "toned down" and family friendly, but performed by a very high level of entertainers.

If you still have a little bit of "kid at heart" in you, you will enjoy this cruise greatly.

    Bon Voyage!!

  2. "i guess disney cruises only take port on islands/resorts they own and run" ----Not true at all!  They visit the same ports as many other cruise lines.  Just because it is the "Disney" name, doesn't make it any safer than any other cruise line.

Disney does have a private island, but so does alsmost every other cruise line....

    Disney has Castaway Cay

    Royal Caribbean has Labadee

Holland America has Half Moon Cay

As long as you stick to shore excursions offered by the cruise line, you will be just fine.

Disney is a really great cruise line and many adults do go on their own and love it...but in your case, I think you'd enjoy Royal Caribbean more.  Besides, Disney doesn't have a casino onboard.

If you want to avoid kids make sure to not go around spring break, summer etc.  Good luck!

  3. We just got back on the 5th of June from a 4 night cruise on DCL.  There were lot's of adults only on the ship and the way it's set up, you don't run into the young ones very often.

Our family of 4 went, 2 adults and 2 teen aged girls.  All of us had a blast.  The one thing to be aware of is that there are no casinos on DCL.  Wasn't a big deal for us..but might be for you.

Lots of activities for adults only even a adults only beach at their island Castaway Cay.

DCL also have a adults only pool area that is very relaxed and inviting.

I would suggest DCL for service and class.  The ships are designed like old ocean liners.  With just a touch of disney.  They are not the neon las vegas that some other cruise lines boast.

I'm sure you would have fun, it was our first cruise and can't wait to start planning our next.

  4. I went on the Disney Cruise Line with 2 other friends, all of us in our 20s, and we had a lot of fun. We took pictures with the characters and everything. The shows are amazing, I dare to say almost like Broadway! And Disney is the only ship allowed to use fireworks at sea, so the show is amazing!!!

Disney Cruise attracts mainly families, so there will be children! But the good thing is that on the ship you have an adults only pool, at Castaway Cay you can go to the adults beach Serenity Beach, but all the fun activities are on the main beach. At night you have bars and the club, no children allowed.

I can't compare with other cruise lines because I have only been on Disney. A downside to the Disney Cruise is that they don't have a casino and it is much more expensive than other ships, but its worth it! Disney never stops surprising me!!!

    You will enjoy it!

  5. Disney Cruise's are ok but for adults I would recommend Royal Caribbean, I would suggest to go here

  6. Royal Caribbean would definitely be better. Disney goes to alot of the same place any other cruise line goes to and just because it has the name disney, it doesn't mean its safer than any other cruise. If you and your mom are wanting to relax more, then go on royal caribbean because disney will have alot of kids. Plus, Disney doesn't even have a casino so you can leave Gambling out of your vacation. Royal Caribbean is great for all ages and Disney focuses more on kids, not adults.
