I'm thinking about going to France this summer. I would go alone. Any suggestions on where to go and is it wise to go alone, or perhaps on a tour?

  1. I'm doing just that in June, and besides the normal safety precautions just enjoy yourself.

  2. I've never been out of the US, but I have heard that in Europe or the middle east, it isn't safe for a woman to travel alone.

  3. I wouldn't recommened anyone going to france.  Even france people.

  4. I'd suggest to go alone, that way you'll meet many interesting people (locals!) on your way, and hopefully, they will show you all those tiny tips and secrets of their country.

Europe is (more or less) safe, of course, you'll have to use your common sense, but you shouldn't be worried about safety too much.

As for the things you should see in France, I believe you should see as much as you can (whole country if you can stay that long!!!!)...

  5. There is no problem for you to backpack to France alone. It's a country that's used to tourists, so choice of lodging and accommodations abound. I went to Paris by myself couple of years ago and was able to visit all the touristy places by myself (with a map of course) - without having to resort to speaking a word of french.

If you plan to do a cross-country tour of France or something, I don't think you have to fret either, as I've backpacked around Europe by myself and had no problems at all.

  6. You need have no concern for your safety.

However, its generally an advantage to travel woth someone as single hotel rooms can be in short supply and tend to cost more per person than double rooms.
