  1. It all depends on what you are looking for.  Each job has different promotions. Look for how many of which job there are.  The more specialized the job, the less promotion potential.  The recruiters have all the stats on this.

If you want serious discipline, and lots of physical activity, (Going on 5 mile runs at least once a week) then the Marines would be good for you.

The Army comes second in physical activity, then the Navy, then the Air Force.

A lot of the job potential depends on what you like to do and what you are capable of.

I was an aircraft electrician, and loved it.  It could be physically demanding at times, because the UH-1 helicopter batteries weighed 80 lbs. We had to carry them from the battery shop outside the aircraft hanger to the battery rack inside the hanger.

Then there are administrative jobs, computer specialist jobs, nursing, etc.

I got married and had a kid. Back then, the military made you get out.  I wouldn't do that again.

Being the first female aircraft electrician at Fort Lewis, Washington was interesting.  I had to show I was BETTER than the guys.

Make sure you find out what you have to be able to do physically, and make sure you can mentally handle the challenge of being away from your family for long periods of time.

    Best wishes.
