Would you recommend?

A Peugeot 206 1.9 D LX or a Vauxhall Corsa 1.7 GLS

Although I like the Corsa, I would probably recommend the Peugeot. A friend of mine had a 1.9 Diesel that did over 300,000 miles, the only thing that had to be replaced was the clutch, 3 times! It may have been a fluke, but the engine was bomb proof.

I would go for the Peugeot 206 1.9D LX.

(Not quite sure why though, lol.)

Peugeot diesel engines are great, but unfortunately they wrap them in tinpot cars.  206 has the build quality of an airfix kit.

The corsa is much better built, and the engine is far from poor.  Vauxhall diesels use oil though, it's not a problem, and doesnt indicate any issues, they do it from new.  Keep it topped up and they're rock solid.

Vauxhall Corsa i will  never buy a peugeot again i had a new 206 i had it for 2 yr  it was in the Garage for most of the time

Go for the Vauxhall, i had a peugeot lol french c**p sold it for a Vauxhall, WOW what a difference no more repair bills.
