Let's say you recycle but not as often as you should. Or maybe you don't recycle at all. If you were paid to recycle everything that is recyclable would you recycle more often?

  1. I am already paid to recycle. It costs me $1.85 to send out a dustbin to landfill, but nothing to send out the same amount to recycling.

Because our municipality has left recycling to a private contractor, and not specified any criteria for keeping the contract, we are seeing that they are cutting out one material after another when they are not recovering costs by recycling.

The same contractor takes landfill stuff, so what they are doing is forcing material back into landfill which is where they make the most money. We are not consulted whether we want to pay a bit to keep stuff out of landfill.

  2. I would so recycle but my township doesnt have recycling

  3. I already recycle, but yes! I would go around and pick up anything on the ground that was recycleable

  4. I'd even collect from my friends and neighbors for a small cut of their proceeds.

  5. I would not accept the money because I already recycle more than many people do and I don't need that reward. I only need to know that I am helping the environment.

  6. yes

  7. yes, $$ is always a great incentive for people. i already recycle, but as you said not always. sometimes i just can't help throwing a plastic bottle into the garbage.
