  1. I have heard also that he is now not a part of NOI but rather Sunni Islam.  That being said, I would still have reservations to be honest because no doubt there would still be some NOI element there.  When I was a new Muslim and living in Virginia we had such a place and every so often you would see clearly the NOI influence.  I would give them the benefit of the doubt of course, but be wary at the same time.

  2. I wouldn't because I cannot reconcile their belief regarding Allah being a man.

However, I would not call them kafirs because the Prophet (sa) forbade calling anyone a kafir.

    EDIT:

@Asker - Perhaps I spoke out of ignorance.  Do you know if WD Muhammad believes, as his father did, that Allah is a black man?  I read "Message to a Black man in America" and he makes that pretty clear in there.  Do you have any insight on this?

love for all, hatred for none

  3. Salam for you dear.No I do not attend a mosque that associated with WD Muhammad. I attend regularly a  general mosque at least 2 times a week  which is not associated with WD Muhammad as a special group of Islam which is not known here in Indonesia.

  4. No. Cuz they're not based off of true Islam.

    Peace for all!

  5. They are Sunni Muslims. I prayed Eid prayers with them. They are not part of NOI. Those Muslims who revile NOI should be ashamed of themselves. They should do outreach not look down on other people. NOI has done more to fight your enemies in this country than you have.

  6. NO

Naion of Islam is another NON MUSLIM group, just like the Ahmadis.

  7. NO. Nation of Islam is EVIL. They are not true Muslims

  8. I am a former member of the Nation of Islam.

When Imam Warith Deen Muhammad, son of Elijah Muhammad, came into the leadership position and made the changes necessary to bring the community in line with true, authentic Islam, many members left because they expected him to carry on his father's teachings exactly the way his father taught.  The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught his followers that it wasn't his job to teach them the actual faith, but to clean them up and give them self-respect.  He taught African-Americans that they are human beings worthy of respect, not low-life, despicable, and non-human.  He taught them that the one to come after him would teach them true Islam.  His son has done that successfully now for 33 years.

As an African-American and a Muslim, I have regularly attended masaajid (mosques) associated with Imam Mohammed for 30+ years.  And I will continue to do so.  He follows the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Allah's Peace be upon him).

If anyone wants to know more about his leadership, the following website may be helpful:  www.newafricaradio.com

People must understand that as the son of Elijah Muhammad, Imam Mohammed was brought up under his teachings.  That was beyond his control.   However, he understood them well enough to explain them to the membership and lead them towards true, authentic Islam.  Personally, I believe he did a masterful job.

To shortnsweet:  I appreciated your question and your views.  I believe you're on the right track.
